Re: DO YOU LIKE SIM?
Oh yeah.
As opposed to, for instance, finding that you'd somehow missed A Night in Sickbay...
Best part of that one is a deleted scene.

OMG, ANOTHER new chapter! NORTH STAR Chapter 28

Re: DO YOU LIKE SIM?
I've seen most of Season Three, between Sci-Fi's mini marathons, and some DVDs a generous friend made for me...but a couple of the DVDs were defective or something so several episodes don't work, and "Similtude" was one of the episodes that got crunked.
Also, for some reason it didn't record when it was on a couple of mini-marathons ago, so I AM a TnTer, just one that the Universe is repeatedly giving the finger to, in terms of this particular episode.

Re: DO YOU LIKE SIM?
Maybe I can help with that? I can't put it in parts in youtube because they'll erase my account, but maybe I can put it in 4shared? I'm not sure though. If I put just the TnT scenes of that chapter in youtube, I think they won't erase my account (but I can't be sure; I've seen more incredible things
)

Re: DO YOU LIKE SIM?
Thanks, Escriba, but I'd rather not risk getting you into any kind of trouble. I think my friend is going to redo the messed up DVDs, though. There just wasn't time with the holidays and stuff.
Funny how you can get away with sticking shows like Doctor Who up on YouTube, but not Star Trek...

I know that not so long ago almost all or all of ENT was up in YouTube and DailyMotion, but then it was all taken down and many accounts were deleted. YouTube has gone as far as deleting accounts of people who have videos up, so yeah, better not risk it at all.
Meanwhile, Escriba, they can only spare an hour?

Re: DO YOU LIKE SIM?
Okay, this was the thread I tried unsuccessfully to find before work earlier today.
I finally saw "Similtude" today, and I can't wait to watch it again because the plot bunnies are a-percolating.
spoiler space, for those who may not have read "Beyond Death" yet:
I for one can't wait to read the next chapters and get all caught up!!

SPOILER!!!:
I'm only on the second chapter of Escriba's story, but T'Pol's sexual encounter with Sim doesn't bother me. If we look at T'Pol in Season Three, we know that exposure to Trellium D has caused her to access emotions that she doesn't really know what to do with. It makes perfect sense to me that she would experiment sexually. Yes, in the story she manhandles the thing with Sim, then with Trip, but as I stated in my feedback on the story page, perfect characters who do everything right aren't compelling, and that's why I'm still here at almost 1 am talking about it! She sexually experimented with Trip in the canon universe because of her feelings for him,and there was the added urgency of the Amanda Cole situation. Were it not for the Trellium or Amanda, T'Pol would never have been so bold, she would've kept it all to herself, and then we all wouldn't be here to talk about it.
The Sim thing, perfectly understandable under the circumstances. People seemed upset at the notion that T'Pol "used" him...well, all I can say is we've all done something shitty in our lives, even if they seemed like a good idea at the time. She made a mistake. She's learning from it.

Re: DO YOU LIKE SIM?
I prefer personally to not go again in this matter, even if I started it.
Well yes. I continue to write. And on Fanfiction.Net, for those who want, it is possible to cast a glance at my latest efforts. We arrived to
The Ears of the Elves, chapter Forty-four
And here is the beginning of the whole story.

But, I must say, you could also find something else on Fanfiction.net written by me. If you want.

Re: DO YOU LIKE SIM?
That's fine, Asso. I didn't come to stir the pot. I've simply finally begun to read this story and I see great artistic merit in it, so I came to discuss that with anyone else who's up for it. This story doesn't fit the usual mold, the author took chances, and as a reader I really appreciate that, along with the skill demonstrated in the general storytelling.
If anyone prefers not to discuss it, the thread is easily enough avoided.

Re: DO YOU LIKE SIM?
I'm agreeing with you Aquarius. About people making mistakes and how this creates the elements for a compelling story. I am also completely nuts about this story for reasons quite aside from the controversial plot element. Yes, ALOT of artistic merit. I really like how she keeps everything in the same spirit as the show while tweaking every plot. It's like the remix version of all the best scenes from Enterprise. Its like finding a little more "Enterprise" waiting to be watched.

Re: DO YOU LIKE SIM?
There're errors and errors.
Anyway, never I said anything about the story's worth.
Well! Could it count something the fact that my family comes from Sicily?

Re: DO YOU LIKE SIM?
I finished reading Escriba's story today, so having read it and finally seeing "Similtude," I have a few thoughts.
First, in canon, it's pretty obvious that Trip is feeling something for T'Pol. In the beginning of the episode he's got his head in her crotch and making remarks about being ready for a new challenge; it seems that their closeness has grown and it's caused him to have thoughts, probably fleeting and random, but there nonetheless.
At this stage Trip would not be so bold, though, as to say anything aside from the type of afore-mentioned ironic remark, or to act on what he feels. I don't think it even occurred to Trip that T'Pol could possibly feel something for him until "Harbinger." He probably thinks that the most they ever can be is friends because, as far as he's concerned, Vulcans just aren't like that and she's given no hint of attraction to him, so any ideas he has are probably just harmless little fantasies at most.
Sim is a different story. He doesn't have the luxury of time, for one thing, so if he wants something, he has to put it on the line and go for it, because there simply isn't going to be a "later." Factor in that while he shares every single experience and memory of Trip's, he's also added new ones of his own into the mix. This is especially interesting when we consider that teenage Sim developed an attraction to T'Pol while he was very hormonal and pubescent, so in a way she's imprinted on him in a way that she hasn't on Trip; she was his first crush.
T'Pol...well, I think it took Sim's confession about his/Trip's feelings to awaken hers, or at least make her wake up and face them. When Sim asks T'Pol if Trip was in love with her, and she says "I can't answer that for you," it was an epiphany for her. I think that one of the reasons she kissed Sim is probably because she doubted she'd ever get that close to Trip--if he'd been having all these feelings as Sim said and hadn't said or done anything about it yet, she probably felt it was unlikely that he ever would. She also knew that Sim had the pressure of time, so if it was ever going to happen, it had to happen now. In her mind, she and Trip probably could never be anything more than friends because they had to continue to work together, etc., but that wasn't a consideration with Sim, who could return her feelings.
Now in terms of the story, I think it's much the same thing, but escalated.
ETA: So I guess the answer to the original question is yeah, I like Sim, since he was an obviously necessary catalyst to moving Trip and T'Pol to a point where they could act on what they felt, and get bus-ay, and give us fans all kinds of wonderful angst and romance and sexual tension to talk about!

SPOILER!!!:
To me, it makes sense that T'Pol slept with Sim, not to "use" him, but following my line of reasoning about canon, to similarly take what part of Trip she could get, when she could get it, because she couldn't comprehend a reality where she and Trip would get together. And what an interesting story it made because it bit her in the butt!
