Re: So who's reading Twilight?
It cause it's a teen girls' book....not an adult book.
I didn't realise this and I'm reading it, and I'm all, "what is wrong with this book?"
Then I realised "OOOHHHHH it's for silly 15 year old girls"
I liked it better once I had it in the right context.
Book #2 and #3 are hella better than the first one. But again........it's all my sister's fault.

So you're saying you're able to instantaneously transform into a 15 yr old girl?

Re: So who's reading Twilight?
I'm unable to turn myself into a girl, and also young, what's more.

Well yes. I continue to write. And on Fanfiction.Net, for those who want, it is possible to cast a glance at my latest efforts. We arrived to
The Ears of the Elves, chapter Forty-four
And here is the beginning of the whole story.

But, I must say, you could also find something else on Fanfiction.net written by me. If you want.

Aside from the fact that would never read books written for 15-year old girls, I could never read a book with the same name as one of the worst ENT episodes.

Maybe someday they'll do something with MaryJanice Davidson's vampire: Betsy, Queen of the Vampires, airhead with extreme shoe collection, heroine of Undead and Unwed, Undead and Unemployed, ect.

It's flavored with passionfruit
an appropriate ingredient, don't you think?

I just re-red your review again and I totally agree with you! (and I am not a feminist either.

^ Good to know! I haven't read those yet, as my priorities are usually sci-fi, vampire/ghost/witch stuff, then everything else kind of falls under "other".
If you like the MJD books, there's the "Real Vampires Have Curves" series. I forgot the author's name, but I have the books floating around here somewhere so I can look it up for you. Very entertaining!

My sister, HappilyEverAfter is reading them, and she claims they remind her of fanfic and that they get better as they go along.
I'm donating my body to science fiction.

Re: So who's reading Twilight?
THAT'S EXACTLY WHAT I SAID!!!
#1: They remind me of fanfic.
#2: They get better as you go.
Book 4 was actually quite good!
Then I read The Host by the same author (for adults) and it was kind of weird, but quite good again, once you were a few chappies in.
I guess now that I have read five of her books I have this to say:
her plots are really original...really quite out there...but her writing style really reminds me of good fanfiction....like it's good, but not quite what one would expect of a published author. It grows on you though.

Re: So who's reading Twilight?
Do the books get better after the first one? I read the first one because my granddaughter has read it six times and I wanted to know why. It was okay, but I wouldn't read it twice, even. She identified with Bella because Bella is clumsy. She feels she is inept like that too. Anyone else know a teenager who identifies with Bella?
And of course there is the "V" word. For my granddaugter it is Vampires. For me it is Vulcans. There do seem to be some parallels. Both V people have some physical powers that humans don't have. Both are sexy. Both come in good and bad form: "vegatarian vampires" as opposed to those who eat humans, "good" Vulcans are from Vulcan, "bad" Vulcans became Romulans, LOL.
And hey, I think some fan fiction is MUCH BETTER THAN PUBLISHED FICTION. There is the same range in published fiction as fan fiction from really bad to excellent. Just because you got paid for your writing does not mean you are a good writer.

Working on a major fan fic project. Two-thirds done. Hope to put it up in the not TOO distant future.

Re: So who's reading Twilight?
I found the characters' motivations in book one just way to unsupported. You don't just "fall in love" that fast. Also, 100 year old vamps would NOT go to high school, regardless of the reasons that the author gave. It was merely a device for the book.
That said, they do get successively better until book 4 which is actually quite, quite good.
And The Host, her one adult book (tho still a bit teen-y) is really quite an original storyline.
But yeah, I read the first only cause my little sis gave it me for my bday. But there's a cliffhanger from ch1 of book 2 at the end, so I got the 2nd one. and so forth.
