...you think about TnT and how two people from really different backgrounds came together when you learn about the engagement between Crown Princess Victoria and a man of the people, Daniel Westling.

Ah! This one is great, KTR! Very great!

Well yes. I continue to write. And on Fanfiction.Net, for those who want, it is possible to cast a glance at my latest efforts. We arrived to
The Ears of the Elves, chapter Forty-four
And here is the beginning of the whole story.

But, I must say, you could also find something else on Fanfiction.net written by me. If you want.

Hmm, I can't say as though it made me think of TnT so much as, 'Wow, wouldn't it be annoying to need the government's approval to marry someone?' But it's an excellent romantic story. And, now that you point out the TnT comparison...Kevin Thomas Riley wrote:You know you are a Trekkie when...

What a lovely story! Reminds me about Crown Princess Mary from Tasmania who married Crown Prince Frederick of Denmark. Australia's magazines are as full of stories of the Danish Royals now as they are about the British ones.

I was surprised by that when I was there; Tassie bookstores also had a biography of her prominently displayed. It's like a real-life fairy tale.Deci wrote:What a lovely story! Hey, there was a series where T'Pol was descended from Surak and Trip pretty much married into Vulcan royalty...

That's a common misconception here among (the few) Republicans. Victoria is free to marry whoever she wants. It's just that if she wants to remain Royal and successor to the throne - with all the duties to the state that that entails - she needs the approval of the government. When you think about it, it makes sense for a Monarchy. Suppose a Prince or Princess Royal wanted to marry a criminal or otherwise a person of poor judgement, then obviously the government which he or she would represent would have to possibility to say "no, we don't want he/she to represent us".
It would get even trickier if, for example, Victoria, who as Crown Princess one day will be reigning Queen, were to marry the successor to another country's throne. Then suddenly we would be faced with the possibility of creating a dual-monarchy, a "personal union" between Sweden and this other country.

...so I'm driving to the salon yesterday and I'm behind a van that has this company's logo on it...and the whole time I'm following it all I can think is, "Hmmm...turn that on its side, make the triangle part bigger, stick a gem in the middle, and that's TOTALLY an IDIC!!"
Yeah, I know, I'm reaching, but it amazed me how little it took to bring Trek to mind.

^ And on a similar note.
You know you're a Trekkie when...
...you think the logo of Iran's first satellite reminds you of something.

Excellent points about royal marriage, KTR. And the article didn't say that she could still marry him without approval if she renounced the throne, although it makes sense.
Like Iran would care if anyone sued them. The resemblance is striking, though.Aquarius wrote:^ Oh, MAN!! Somebody should sue over that one!!

Not that I thought they would. Obviously, any serious notion about suing would have to be filed under "Yeah, THAT'LL happen!" I was just being facetious.
