We're supposed to get 3-6 INCHES!! We had thundersnow, which really dumps a lot of snow in a VERY short stretch of time!

Just talked to my parents, who live in Virginia Beach, Va. They're supposed to get 1-3 inches at the beach!

Of course, over here, no one knows how to drive in snow and ice. Add NASCAR to that. And our biggest problem is ice. I live on the top of a hill. No way I'm gonna be driving anywhere tomorrow...

You're in Burlington? Hey, that really isn't far at all from here! (Maybe a visit sometime?) And wow, I don't think I've ever heard them closing Elon before.

They have a back-up on 85 from Gaffney, SC (near the big peach) through Cleveland County and into Gastonia. Some people have been stuck since 10 PM LAST NIGHT!! Kids are off school and hubby is doing work at home on his laptop.

Good idea.

If you have anti-lock brakes, the trick is keeping steady pressure and letting them do their horrid grinding thing. It's freaky when you're not used to it and many people instinctively lift their feet. Unfortunately, pumping the brakes as many of us were taught to do in snow defeats the whole anti-lock feature.
