New Fanfiction System Feedback

Alright, now that I can post again, I'm sorry to have to do this, but if anybody has anything that has not gone up, other than Chapter 8 of Captives (Ch7 just went up, Panny, it'll just be a day or so ), and also other than the rest of GinaMR's Virtual Season, let me know and/or send it to me again. This request includes anything that was brought to my attention as having not been re-posted after the new system went back up, i.e., stories that went up very shortly BEFORE the new system and got lost in the update, and haven't yet gone back up.

I'm sorry to have to ask anyone to do that but things have been kind of hectic with the backlogging. Let me know and I'll get them right up. It literally takes like ... 5 seconds now to post a story when the system works .

Okay, two issues, one good, and one not urgent but maybe worth your attention.

The good: whatever you guys have done, the weird symbols in that one chapter of Alelou's story are now gone.

The attention-worthy: on multiple-chapter fics, there are two drop-down chapter selection menus, one at the beginning of the chapter and one at the end. The top one functions perfectly for me. The bottom one, no matter what chapter I select, it just puts me back to the beginning of whatever chapter I'm already on. I've only tried this on two stories (Dinah's "The Thorn and the Rose" and Alelou's "The Locum"), but so far to me it seems pretty consistent throughout.

I think they're already aware of this and it's on the list. I find that no matter which one I use, it usually ignores my first attempt to change chapters, and sometimes more. That's why I freaked out about all my comments being from the same chapter at one point ... because, DOH, it was the same chapter.

But keep trying and it starts working. Apparently.

Hey, by the way, nobody's said anything but, are the stories I posted last night still not showing up for anyone who doesn't have Firefox 3.0.7?

I was alerted early this morning at work that the updates I did late last night (which of course not very many people saw until this morning) were just empty blurbs with keywords and such, and no fic, all except Asso's.

I can tell you why that is... for some reason Asso's stories come in perfect, lol, go figure. Everybody else's I have to pull this funky trick for it to show up right and not spit out weird format code. BUT, apparently my fix makes the entire story wink out of existence for all I.E. and pre-3.0.7 Firefox browsers.

So, authors affected - how do you want me to handle this? Take them down until it's fixed or leave them up? What we'll do once it's fixed, IF it's necessary to repost the story, is save all your comments and then add them to the "fixed" new story.

Some of the stories I can read fine on firefox and others I can only read using Internet Explorer. I can't explain it but it's really strange it will only work using IE or Firefox.

All I get are titles and the names of the authors -- no new stories. Very sad.

By the way, thank you so much for finding my chapter 6 plus all the comments. I REALLY appreciate it.

Is there some kind of difference in Asso's word processing program? Perhaps the key is finding out what he's doing/using that others aren't?

I was able to read Asso's story and Bluetiger's without any problem on Ie and firefox awhile ago. Gina R's story downloaded like it was supposed to.

Since I down loaded firefox this morning and can now see what's going on, I'm happy to leave mine up. I'm just sorry the folks with I.E. are being frustrated.

Just to let you know that I am working on these things.

If you do find an error could you let me know what you were looking at... i.e. what story.

Also what broswer you were using.

This will help me sort things out faster.

I can't read any of the chapters posted March 23rd.

IE6 shows me i.e. Alelou's Chapter 1-10, but not 11.

Same for all other fics posted March 23rd. Everything prior is visible.


Edit to add: Strangely enough "Imprisoned - Chapter 2 by Mjmeyg - March 24, 2009" is shown without any problems. But everything from the 23rd is the way Pitseleh etc. described it on page 68 of this thread.

Edit 2: Very weird. "Imprisoned, Chapter 2" has just vanished.

^Try downloading the latest version of FireFox. That browser seems to allow everyone to see all the stories just fine. I believe they're working on the IE problem, but for now this is an easy solution if you need a fanfic fix.
