New Fanfiction System Feedback

Re: New Fanfiction System Feedback
This was kind of weird, and I'm not sure if it's been mentioned before or not. I'm borrowing a friend's laptop right now, using Internet Explorer. (No idea what version, not my machine.) I went to leave feedback on an older story, clicked on an emoticon, and got an error message that said something to the tune of "These emoticons are currently only available in FireFox."
Just passing that along, for what it's worth.

Re: New Fanfiction System Feedback
Mike, which errors in particular do you want the screen shot of? The stories with nothing, the stories with one line of stray code, the story John put up with the paragraph of gobbledygook? (Or the extra spaces or the slashes??)
OMG, ANOTHER new chapter! NORTH STAR Chapter 28

The stories with nothing and the ones with the <--endif --> stuff.
The slashes and gobbledy gook have fixes in place... I am just waiting for John to let me know if they are working... the fics need to be reuploaded for those.

Thats actually something I put in. IE is a royal pain in the butt. Microsoft feels they can re-write the rule book and as such certain things only work in one or the other.
Because of this I can't get the emo's to work in IE... Safari, FF all work fine.
Sorry about that... the codes can be added manually though if you know the correct character sequence like

And in other weirdness...
The feedback I posted to justTripin's "Forward and Backward" also materialized itself on "These Are the Voyages?"

That could be a matter of switched comment pages. Thanks, I'll see if I can fix that.

Re: New Fanfiction System Feedback

Another thing that ate up my time tonight was that Amazon.com screwed up and sold me a $500 gun safe for $100 bucks, then backed out and sent me the actual $100 gun safe (which is a POS), even though their original listing, which I still have on my invoice, was a $500 gun safe. They just screwed up and they know it and they're trying to weasel out of eating $400. Unfortunately, it was sold through SportsmansGuide's Store ON amazon.com, so they're basically just throwing the hot potato back and forth trying to blame each other. Either SG didn't send me the right safe or Amazon didn't LIST the right safe, but nobody will admit it. You know what, though? At least SportsmansGuide had people at customer service I COULD UNDERSTAND!!!

I don't think I know exactly where people are seeing these errors.
Sometimes seeing helps with the fixing.
Thanks
Mike
Still having all the problems I mentioned, aside from this part 8 Elassar posted - and which is gone again.

I've made some screenshots for you, but I'll need an email-address where I could send them.

Where do I find the source code?

Thanks guys!
Just an update: HoT fanfiction is currently off of the main archive. This was done at the request of several HoT authors and HoT staff while we redesign the archiving process such that what were once HoT-linked fics are, once again, HoT-linked.

Re: New Fanfiction System Feedback
I don't want to speak too soon - but I think we may be good on several of our core issues.
The IE6/7 compatibility problem SHOULD be solved in a new beta manager that Mike has coded up for me. The slashes should also be gone. But - by the way - this is not retroactive to the fics I posted before. I'm just letting you all know, in the next day or so (I would do it ALL now but I have to go to work in 1 hr), you should see all the fics from like... March 17-today go back up in new forms (with your comments all preserved).
I know this works on IE7. I'm 90% sure it works on IE6. Please lord, don't strike me down for being hopeful
ALSO - keep in mind some stories will be fixed in the next few minutes and some won't yet. This is because I don't want to remove like all 12 or 13 stories that need to be reposted at once and just, have them not be available. I will remove, and repost, one at a time. AnaM's "Infinity" is first just because it was the seminal test fic that brought me great happiness and success when it worked

Re: New Fanfiction System Feedback
You're untiring.

Well yes. I continue to write. And on Fanfiction.Net, for those who want, it is possible to cast a glance at my latest efforts. We arrived to
The Ears of the Elves, chapter Forty-four
And here is the beginning of the whole story.

But, I must say, you could also find something else on Fanfiction.net written by me. If you want.

Untiring?
BTW - I'll keep a rolling list of what I've fixed (including comments, don't worry, I am saving them - smilies and all!)
AnaM - Infinity
Panyasan - Captives - Chapter 7
The rest to come tonight after midnight CST when I get home.
