New Fanfic Up!

My husband does our taxes and I think they come out close to not owing, not getting. Yeah, when you are not expecting a pile back, you tend to procrastinate on taxes. My daughter always gets something back so her taxes are done as soon into the new year as she can get them done.

Well, there were also so many changes happening to the tax code in congress this year I figured I might as well wait -- but I estimated them far enough back to know it ain't going to be sheer joy (but shouldn't be a financial emergency either, fingers crossed). I had a good year last year, which can get kind of painful with the self-employment taxes, and since I was freelancing in someone else's office I don't have a lot of business deductions.

This year we probably won't wait because so far it's AWFUL. ZIP. NADA. DROPPED OFF A CLIFF.

Evcake, you know you can deduct medical expenses, mileage, etc.?

Yup. Minimum amount is pretty high, but I bet I qualify this year.

Yes, it can sure add up fast.

I hate the way Turbo Tax puts those horrifying red numbers up there, as you plug in your income first, to terrify you into desperately pushing into your deductions, hoping against hope they'll come down to something green... At this stage of putting numbers in I owe WAY more than I thought I did. But it will drop. I guess it's better than than the reverse process would be. Then you'd never want to finish.

Every time I come back to the site I see new posts under "new fanfic up" and when I get here it's a bummer 'cause it's about taxes!! Quit playing with my emotions like that!!

Okay, I just had my first experience with the new posting system. I'm sorry to say that although I thought I'd formatted out all the extra paragraph spaces in Word, they were still there when I pasted it in. But I fixed them manually.
