I'm reading a wonderfully entertaining book by the primatologist Robert Sapolsky right now. Anyway, these two baboons really reminded me of a certain couple:

THe Pleasure (and Pain) of "Maybe".

The chapter as a whole has to do with why uncertain rewards (as in gambling and the lottery and that girl who only very occasionally notices that you're alive) can actually be more reinforcing than predictable rewards, due to how our brains process these things. It's fascinating.

That sounds like a fascinating study, Alelou! I like to read about behavior and intelligence studies (obviously from my sentience story). You might like to read Alex and Me by Irene Pepperberg about a parrot. Hey, even randy male rabbits sometimes are refused. I know of a female rabbit who had enough of male attention and backed herself into a corner so the male could not get at her.
