Penn's new job
I'm really glad that I didn't hear about this before hand because then I would have known the hwole time. This is like the
SPOILER!!!:
Izzy thing
with Grey's. That was kind of a blown spoiler for months now.I mean regardless of your politics, you have to admit it's a pretty unusual and interesting scenario. He's an interesting guy... Kal Penn, I mean. He gets famous acting in silly movies like Van Wilder and Harold & Kumar Go to Whitecastle, lands the gig on House, gets involved w/ the campaign as a volunteer last year, starts taking credits for a graduate certificate in international security from Stanford, and now he's actually working in politics

even if it were the other party I'd think it's an interesting story... But yeah. I read that he didn't know, or have any say, in how they got rid of his character.

It sure comes out of the blue. They made a big point of showing him as happy and well adjusted. This feels contrived.

^ Yeah I know

Okay I'm hungry. I'm gonna go downstairs and make me some oatmeal.

SPOILER!!!:
Okay vote who killed the Kutner??
1) Kutner
2) Bermaga. They just felt like killing someone for no reason in a way that doesn't make any sense.
3) Taub. He felt that his career was threatened by Kutner's presence especially after the previous 2 episodes. That's why he kept trying to cover for Kutner in the beginning to prevent them from finding him and trying to figure out what really happened. And he was the only one who didn't seem to care very much.
4) The US government. It's a new government conspiracy to rid the public of their favorite TV characters by offering the actors government jobs.
5) Colonel Mustard. In the library. With his car keys.
6) Other (please explain)

Re: Are there enough House fans to justify a thread?
Haha, #2 is hilarious.
SPOILER!!!:
Seriously though, I read an interview with Penn and the producers, and they said it was absolutely a suicide. So I'm hoping we get a little closure - why? Now I know that in real life there isn't always closure (and of course to most of us it's hard to imagine things being that bad) but there's usually something. I mean, generally people don't kill themselves without some kind of reason - depression, often coupled with other troubles (financial, marital, etc). So we have Kutner, who by all appearances was a happy, well-adjusted human being with a job he was good at and enjoyed, and a bright future ahead of him, and I'd like to know why he killed himself. I think, since House does too and he obsesses, we've not seen the last of this.

SPOILER!!!:
I think the point was to work it into the whole "nobody had a clue" thing so that the public service announcement afterwards kinda made sense. Since all too many suicides LITERALLY ARE complete surprises that nobody around them can understand, I think they were going for that.
They clearly weren't forced to do it this way, they could have written him out of the show any way they wanted to.

SPOILER!!!:
I think that's what they were going for and I don't buy it. I don't think the writers were writing him with this in mind at all. He was the ONLY one on that show that they wrote as happy and well adjusted. If any of the others killed themselves, with the exception of Cuddy, I would buy it. I HATE it when the writers just wake up one day and go, I know what would make a big splash, we change someone's character 180 degrees. ER used to do that alot. Happy-go-lucky, idealistic, big-kid doctor turns cynical and nihlistic. But at least they gave us a reason and couple-episode transition.
OR, it's like on Battlestar Gallactica. They decide who will be a cylon by getting together in a room and going, OK, who will we reveal is a cylon? It has to be the person the viewers least expect?
I need an episode fix. Kutner had to take off suddenly to care for his dying adoptive mother. House is being a jerk and won't let him have time off so he's fired.

Well for BSG, they DID want it to be someone you wouldn't expect, but to RDM's credit, it was never someone who didn't make any sense. The discussions about Adama, Roslin, and others being the final Fifth were shot down for precisely that reason... it didn't fit. And when Tigh was named, it had a funny symmetry for it to have been Ellen. They could have lived together for 3000 yrs and just moved around together, nobody being the wiser.

Re: Are there enough House fans to justify a thread?
No, no, no. House/Cameron is just wrong. She's sweet and deserves Chase, who appreciates that and isn't, you know, an emotional cripple.
I don't even understand how anyone could think House would be... well, lovable, in a romantic way. I get that sometimes there's something that could be attractive about fixing someone. (Suspect would be less than a fairy tale in real life.) But House is just... it's impossible for me to picture how anyone could have a remotely healthy relationship with him.

SPOILER!!!:
Especially if his subconscious tried to kill Chase, but that's a whole other screwy thing.

Yeah but
SPOILER!!!:
House/Cuddy wasn't real!!! He made it up in his head!
Yet at the same time, Cuddy acted like it really happened... I read somewhere they had sex in college. I bet this is referring to that.
Because if I'm not mistaken, we were meant to understand that the entire incident of detoxing with Cuddy and sleeping with her was all a hallucination.

I'm also really disappointed in the huge bombshell of "he hallucinates someone else who is dead".
SPOILER!!!:
Kutner showed up for like 5 second and had like 1 line. WTF?

I find House's final totally dissapointing and totally awesome at the same time. How is that possible?
Yeah, that was completely
Don't forget Chase's hair! That deserves an honorary mention
