So I got mildly harshed on by the State of Michigan today. They're not taking any more sign-ups for the No Worker Left Behind orientation until June 1. They're killing me over here... :(

In the meantime, I'm crawling around the web looking for grant money. Funzies.

Check this out! One of the neighbors told my roommate about this website: All U C where they link to TV shows. I just watched the only third season "Doctor Who" show I hadn't seen and may have just signed up for nightmares about evil statues... and there are tons of shows listed.

My family sometimes worried I wasn't safe and me telling some stories didn't help, but I loved living in a big city, with lots of different cultures, food, entertainment and such diversity in people.

Detroit...not so much. The government was especially corrupt through the 70s, 80s, and early 90s. Dennis Archer began his term as mayor in '93 and tried to revitalize the city, repair race relations and hostilities between the city and the suburbs, but with only minimal success because people left over from the old administration and the city council were so deeply entrenched he could only go so far before they smacked him down. Sadly he didn't seek a third term, though I hear he may be running for governor, and if he does, that makes me so very happy because honestly I think he's the only hope Michigan has for crawling out of the toilet.

Any way...Archer's successor was just as corrupt as his predecessor, but more arrogant and less good at not getting caught. Racism is alive and well in the city government, and they still hate us in the suburbs with a passion...except they want us to come into the city and spend our money in the sports arenas and restaurants and casinos. Otherwise, they're sorely lacking in the diversity you mentioned, which is really sad. If the city was less interested in settling the score and more about a clean slate for everyone, I'm sure that it could be attained over time; Archer's revitalization plans certainly seemed to be on the right track, as in the mid-late 90s, people were actually moving in to the city again.

You know, that is really sad, that mayors and city hall is so corrupt that the potential of a city is lost.

It really is! Detroit used to be known as the "Paris of the Midwest"--that was a LONG time ago. But it was a beautiful city once. Now...it's run by people who have their own agenda, and who are motivated by racism. A city can't thrive like that. Oh, and a couple of years ago--they TOTALLY scammed the selection committee to get picked to host the Super Bowl. They sent pictures of the city to the committee, but Kilpatrick made sure that they were airbrushed so vacant buildings looked like people lived there, etc. It was such a big scandal.

Seriously, the worst thing that city ever did was let Dennis Archer get away. Before he was mayor of Detroit, he was one of the most respected judges on the Michigan Supreme Court. If elected I think he'll make a very good governor, probably the best we've had since the 1980s. If that happens, hopefully he can pull Detroit along kicking and screaming with the rest of the state.

I somehow managed to mix together a website for my company. It seems to work when viewing through Firefox. The code probably contains errors but they don't seem to have any effect but then again I'm not an expert. http://www.positron-grupp.ee/ at the moment it is in Estonian only but I will put up other languages in the near future.

Ooh, now it's official! (A business without a website is hardly even real. ;))

Estonia was on the map section of my Europe Since 1945 final this afternoon. I like that, for English speakers at least, Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania are neatly in alphabetical order north to south. This makes it easy to remember which is which. 8)

Do you know? for Italians Baltic Republics have a very romantic connotation.
Well yes. I continue to write. And on Fanfiction.Net, for those who want, it is possible to cast a glance at my latest efforts. We arrived to
The Ears of the Elves, chapter Forty-four

And here is the beginning of the whole story.

But, I must say, you could also find something else on Fanfiction.net written by me. If you want.
