Yoko Kanno is one of the best (if not the best) composer of anime soundtrack. She doesn't just make great openings, she composes full orchestral soundtracks for the animes Her soundtrack for Turn-A Gundam it's just... mind-blowing (here and here excerpt.)

I like this one: Strangers.

The amazing Dance of Curse also.

And this entire scene from Cowboy Bebop.

Although other animes have great music or openings, like: Ergo Proxy, the bike scene from the movie Akira (starts at 2:01), Gasaraki, Elfen Lied (scary anime, good soundtrack), Last Exile (opening and excerpt), Nana (yeah, I know it's a shoujo. Sue me), Samurai Champloo, Jin-Roh or Noir(who has, independently from its quality, a good soundtrack.) Ah! And Princess Mononoke.

Apparently Black Lagoon is good, but I don't get to like it

OK, as you know, I can never go halfway with my enthusiasms. I have to go flat out and get addicted. I used to be a fan of this Thai rock band, Carabao, 24 years ago. I just rediscovered them on YouTube, including recent stuff and collaborative projects and I can't tear myself away. Tell me if this performance, a collarobation between Carabao and Parn (the woman), knocks you off your feet. Or is it just me? Wait till the part where they sing together in harmony at the end.

Yeah. I like it when my tastes are validated, although I do have plenty of validation. On YouTube there are fans from all around the world writing their comments in differnet languages and interacting in simple English and phoneticly spelled Thai. Some of the big concerts are in Europe. I can't interact on their biggest fan site, because it seems to be in German. Thanks Alelou, for listening.

Heh, I just love al the women with exotic instruments in the beginning and the fact that that trio of women is playing wind instruments. My grandfather used to say that he admired women who could play wind instruments, since you need big lungs for that.
