I guess, but I still say Karl Urban in full Rohan togs is about as close to Thor as I've ever seen.
As for his resemblance to Kenneth, I wonder if that means Kenneth will play Donald Blake and then Hemsworth will play Thor. Smash the magic walking stick on the ground and..."THOOOOOOOOOR!"

THAT'S why he looked familiar! He was in LOTR. Mystery solved!
I think Spock's line about pacing the corridors weeping if it would be good for morale deserves a spot on the best-quotes list.

Anybody know who/what that little guy manning the ice station with Scotty was?

It's flavored with passionfruit
an appropriate ingredient, don't you think?

A wookie? I don't like it when they treat some species who is intelligent like a cute or annoying pet. Or are wookies only halfways intelligent?
I'm donating my body to science fiction.

China patterns. (Which means ditto, in X-Files parlance. Does it mean that generally? I can't remember anymore.)
OMG, ANOTHER new chapter! NORTH STAR Chapter 28

Re: Abrams Trek review thread *HEAVY SPOILERS*
You know, in TOS there was a bit of flirtation between Uhura and Scotty (not much, but just a little), so I could more accept a Uhura and Scotty romance than Uhura and Spock. Uhura/Spock just does not seem right to me.
Working on a major fan fic project. Two-thirds done. Hope to put it up in the not TOO distant future.

Yeah, Uhura is Scotty's girl!
So get your Vulcan mitts off her, you green-blooded sob!

Oh my!
Honestly? From bad to worse.
Your dekkos at how things are going in the movie, push me to withdraw from it more and more.

Well yes. I continue to write. And on Fanfiction.Net, for those who want, it is possible to cast a glance at my latest efforts. We arrived to
The Ears of the Elves, chapter Forty-four
And here is the beginning of the whole story.

But, I must say, you could also find something else on Fanfiction.net written by me. If you want.

Re: Abrams Trek review thread *HEAVY SPOILERS*
I know a lot of people love Simon Pegg and I enjoy him too -- in HIS movies -- but as a girl whose very first crush on Star Trek was Chief Engineer Montgomery Scott, I just don't see it. He and his mascot are the #1 Thing I Would Change About This Movie.
However, having graduated fairly quickly to Mr. Spock in my affections back then, I don't mind the Uhura thing so much. They could have sold it better, but I'm willing to see where it goes. (Who knows, Uhura could end up with Scotty yet.) After all this thing went AU 25 years before we meet these guys. Who knows what changes that caused?
But not complete and utter personality and body transplants, please! And Scotty was the only really glaring example of this, I thought. Well, Chekov doesn't look much the same, but at least his personality appears to be intact.

Actually, as I go back in my mind to Undiscovered Country/Generations where we saw a confident and almost pushy Chekov and now we see young wimpy Chekov, I imagine a wide learning curve. Pike didn't even know the poor boy's name.

Re: Abrams Trek review thread *HEAVY SPOILERS*
Well, yeah, but when Chekov came on the show he was the combination of "Beatles/Monkees" cutie and comic relief overdrawn Russian accent guy. He had to grow into the role he had in the movies. They all did. Already the Uhura and Sulu in the new movie have been developed better than they ever were on the TV show. They also seem to have decided Chekov is some kind of math genius or something in this thing even if he's still got the overdrawn Russian accent comic relief thing going.
And I definitely prefer this guy's cute curls to the awful Chekov wig.

I love the new Chekov. He's a cutie-pie, and just what younger Chekov should be. Now if only we can get him to say "Nuclear Wessels".

Re: Abrams Trek review thread *HEAVY SPOILERS*
I also liked Chekov. Anton Yelchin (sp?) did a good job, and the writers gave him a plausible role. While he was entertaining, he also served a real purpose (unlike Scotty) and felt like an authentic character.
