Yeah, I can sometimes see slash, mainly when it's canonical, such as Torchwood fanfic, which I read a couple of times when I was procrastinating... *cough* I mean, taking a break to let my brain recharge. Not seeing the whole K/S thing. I mean, Kirk is a major ladies' man! Come on!

Also, I have this theory that Vulcans would find same-sex relationships wildly illogical based on reproductive biology and pon farr, but that's just me.

I did enjoy the Treknology I Could Do Without article. The robots-making-humans-fat-and-lazy argument has come up before and has some valid points. Or maybe that was the same argument about holodecks. Anyway, I must also concede this point:
But, come on, people: We already know how badly people drive in two dimensions. Do you really want to add 50 percent more dimensionality to drive badly in?

See, I don't consider the Torchwood stuff, or say Willow/Tara from Buffy, to be slash, because those are characters with canonically established same-sex orientations. (Or in Jack's case, we'll just call him "sexually opportunistic.") We had big panel discussions about this at Media West last year, and the general consensus was that there was a distinction between "slash" and "gay fic." To me, "slash" is when you use "subtext" you saw in the show to write canonically straight characters into a homosexual pairing.

Well, "slash" is more when a woman tries to write her fantasies down? Most of the times it doesn't portray an accurate view of homosexual relationships. It's just, PWP. Not always, but they are more times than not.

People tend to forget that an homosexual relationship is more than taking one of the partners and having him acting as a cliché woman (or she as a cliché man) with different genitalia.

I was a huge David Carradine fan as a teenager... I watched every episode of "Kung Fu" over and over again. Just loved 'em. Later I found out that Bruce Lee auditioned for the Quai Chang Caine role and was TURNED DOWN because he was "too ethnic". (Read "too chinese for racist Hollywood"). After that, the old reruns just weren't the same anymore. Carradine was a good actor, but compared to Lee his martial arts skills were a joke. (To be fair, I suppose I should say that compared to Lee anybody's martial arts skills are a joke.) Anyway, can you IMAGINE how AWESOME "Kung Fu" would have been with Bruce Lee in the leading role? It boggles the mind.

Not to take anything away from Carradine, though. He was a fine actor and will be missed.

Sigh, that is sad that we lost David Carradine. One by one the faces from my childhood and young adulthood are disappearing. Such is life.
Working on a major fan fic project. Two-thirds done. Hope to put it up in the not TOO distant future.

Do you know? His name is well known, also here.
I feel sad. :(
Well yes. I continue to write. And on Fanfiction.Net, for those who want, it is possible to cast a glance at my latest efforts. We arrived to
The Ears of the Elves, chapter Forty-four

And here is the beginning of the whole story.

But, I must say, you could also find something else on Fanfiction.net written by me. If you want.

Earlier this week when I arrived at the building on campus where I work, I found the head of a mid-sized bird just outside the door of the building. I disposed of the head, wondering where the rest of the bird was. Our building, the Engineering and Mathmatical Sciences Building is twelve stories (I think). Well, I work in the basement, LOL, rarely go up to the other levels. Anyway, it is the tallest building on campus. One of the students who works part time in our department showed me the link to the Biological Sciences webcam on the Peregrine Falcon nest ON TOP OF OUR BUILDING. I watched the cam as the mother bird ripped apart meat and fed it to her four chicks. Now I know what happend to the body that went with that bird head. Here is the link to the webcam on the falcon nest:

http://bird.biosci.uwm.edu/webcam/birdcam/

Sometimes the birds are under the camera, other times not. They look real cute when they are all sleeping in a huddle. When they are feeding, well, no one looks their best when they are eating. You can spot some feathers from the victims among the feathers the mother falcon has pulled from her own body to insulate the nest a bit.

Wouldn't the Vulcans just love this display of Terran predator family values?
