OK How about a little conspiracy theory to start the day... I like to compare the Romulans to the former USSR, the secrecy, the paranoia, the ruthless deication to the state, all of it has that KGB Soviet feel. Mix that with the Ancient Roman values and it's rather scary. Of course this could just be a little girl's perceptions because she started life at the very end of the Cold War, and she watched way too much Scarecrow And Mrs. King, Bionic Woman, and Six Million Dollar Man when she was a kid. Anyway... With that background I find it very easy to believe that the Romulans infiltrated Vulcan with "Sleepers" sometime around First Contact. With these "Sleepers" crawling around they gain access to the VHC, which controls everything from the Science Directorite, Space Exploration, Cultural Practices, and the everyday government. See it's totally possible the Romulans are VERY responsible for some of the utter garbage we say about the Vulcan people. I think it's interesting NOT a cop out.

Warpgirl. don't think you want to go there.

The Romulans are interesting and their motivations different.

but comparing them to the soviets, no.

You have to remember at the start of the Cold war the Soviet Union was in the hands of a madman, Stalin. No one knew what made him tick. Just that he was dangerous as Hell.

After Stalin there were a succession of men who ranged from intelligent to incompetent.

The cold war was a balacing act on each side.

It would scare Helll out of you just how close we were at all times of some idiot making a mistake.

Romulans are a nice enemy. The are totaly against everybody so the are predictable.

the soviets never were.

Hey I'm 25 I can't remember it THAT well... I said too much late 70's 80's and early 90's TV. So I've seen The Hunt For Red October one too many times, Sean Connery is a BIG distraction. Oh well I thought it was a cool idea. :D

The real deal probably would have bored you to death.

I once found a photo of Sean connery in a full regalia Kilt outfit for a woman friend.

She was so thrilled to have Connery on her Background of her Desktop.

Of course he was a tad younger than he is now.

IDK the night the Wall came down was pretty exciting for a five year old. Like I said it's just my theory on the Romulans. I had to come up with something to explain T'Pol and the other Vulcans acting wierd.

I have a piece of the wall somewhere in one of the boxes in my garage. I know it is real as I was in Germany when the wall came down and wife had relatives who lived in Berlin on both sides of the wall and they were there and got us a piece. Doesn't look like much just a chunk of concrete.

Romulans have so much promise for Fanfics. Hope lots of them are written.

I think your real one is better. Still Sleepers are the only way I can make sense of "Kir'Shara" considering V'Las was a Rommie and he was the HEAD of the VHC. So you know he's got a finger in EVERYTHING. I still say they tried to out law mind melds, mating bonds, and katras. The played up pa'nar so they could weaken the native Vulcans after all, Rommies aren't telepathic. No wonder the Vulcans on ENT were so uncontroled. And it explains a lot of T'Pol's weird behavior in seasons 1-3.

Actually have not seen the Vulcan Arc. Have it on my season four DVD set so will be watching it soon.

Thought that T-Pol was cured of the syndrome in the vulcan Arc as well as her addiction to TD.

So that does not explain her stiffing Trip by saying that she had to study the teachings of Surack.

What she should have done was to invite trip to learn with her and to seek answers to allow their relationship and marriage by Suracks teachings.

that way the two could have really come to an understanding that would last and keep them together.

OK dear watch the Vulcan Arc soon, I think you could better understand T'Pol's actions when you do. Simply put as a woman she FREAKED! Maybe this is a girl thing but we don't think we're any good to our men when we're completely lost and confused about ourselves. And then we beat ourselves up because we're not any good to our men, then we want to fix it ourselves so we can get back to being good for our men. And usually you men want to fix us fast which annoys us. Which in turn makes a BIG mess. So a woman is likely to say back off until I get my head on straight. Frankly when men interfere it takes longer.

But wouldn't asking a man to learn with you be different?

All trip was trying to do was offer his Heart again. He wasn't pushing her and he certainly didn't know she was strung out.

Had T-Pol stopped to consider she might have seen sharing the search with Trip was a tremendous opportunnity for him to learn more about vulcans and her. also he might pick up some vulcan language on the way which would help too.

Everything to gain and nothing to lose by including Trip in her serach.

I know it would be hard at times. When she wanted to be alone with what she had discovered and her concern that what she had learned might confuse Trip. but helping him to a better understanding had to be good for the relationship

I'm not saying you're wrong. I'm saying that when a woman's been traumatized in anyway, and let's face it her culture got rocked, and her mother died, that IS traumatic. Our first instinct is to say, "I'm not any good to him now, when I'm better I can be with him. Right now he'll get sick of me and leave." Is it a rational response? NOPE! But we don't want you men to walk out on us because we're screwed up. T'Pol wasn't saying "Get out of my life." She always intended to be with Trip she just needed time to process.

Looking at it from a male's angle. A good way to drive a male away is to turn down his offer to help. You are saying that he is unimportant to you. A person who is important the offer of help would be most welcome because it would show the depth of his feeliings.

One of the deepest instincts of a male is to protect and help a female. So an offer on Trips part would come from the Heart and spurning it would be a blow to his heart and his love.

I am speaking of a sensitive caring type of male as Trip is. His whole world revolves
around t-Pol she is his life. He desperately wants sharing that life and he wants to share in her efforts.

T-Pol by shutting out Trip would leave a lonely and possibly broken hearted male who would wonder what he had done to be shut out when it semed to him that they should be coming together.

Take him in to her search of Surack teachings let him be part of the Joy of discovery. that would build a rock solid relationship and ensure their future. She is searching for the depths of her belief and trip should be included in that search and in those beliefs.

You're right, but a woman would see it as being a burden. We're the nurturers, the caretakers, we're the emotional support. It's hard for us to just say "OK I can let go." We just don't want you guys thinking we're weak. Part of T'Pol's problem is during that time she knows she's not in any shape to take care of Trip's needs, emotionally, sexually, intellectually. She thinks that because she can't fill those needs she should stay away until she can. If she doesn't she's afraid Trip will get sick of her and leave. Now she's not thinking rationally because she knows in her mind that Trip won't do that. But her HEART is telling her "You're unfit, and he will leave you." WE KNOW Trip would never do that, but T'Pol isn't capable of seeing it then. She's too damaged by everything that's happened since she joined Enterprise the Kir'Shara and her mother's death was the straw that broke the cammel's back. Unfortunately this line of reason accomplishes what she most fears, Trip DOES leave. Anyway my point is she did what she did BECAUSE she loved him. It was just the wrong way to go about it, but fairly typical of my sex.

But that is the point of his transferring to Columbia. He felt that she didn't love him. She rejcted him one time too often without reason. she cut him out of an important part of her life a part he wanted to share and should have had the opportunity to share. She stiff armed him again.

too many times he had laid his heart in front of her only to see her stomp on it. this was a golden opportuity for t-Pol to open up to him take him into her life and tell him that is where he belonged and where she wanted him.

When she came in and asked him "Are you leaving because of me?" it sounded cold as if she was just curious not that it really mattered to her. Had she come in and said "I don't want you to leave because of me I want you to stay because of me." That would have stopped Trip in his tracks. She would be saying that she did not want him to leave but wanted him to stay because of her and at the same time saying that he was important to her.

HIs answer was a little cruel but justified given what she had handed him.

He took so much and asked so little.

during that test he exhited his fear that she woud be hurt and that he didn't want her to risk it. She brushed him off. She gave him every indication that she did not even care for him other than as a friend and crewmate cetainly not as a lover and bond mate.

i dont think vlas was supposed to have been romulan unlike his aid.
i think he was a vulcan who sympathised withe romulans.
i also have a theory about why vlas was the way he was.
that at some point in his life he was involved in intelligence.
he was captured by the andorians and they used their emotion machine on him. and to a degree it affected him'
he was by far the most emotional vulcan we see in enterprise but the other vulcans dont seem to be phased by it.
if his background was known by others his occasional emotionalism may have been over looked if his govermental gifts were so great.
it would also account for his intense hatred toward the andorians .
