Re: Star Trek: the new movie.
Um it was the 60's maybe this person can't read subtext behind the Decency Code. But as a finatic of classic film, I can say with some certainty that Kirk was far more sexually motivated than in his or her list. HOWEVER Movie Kirk even says there has been a lot of women. So out of the horses mouth...

Re: Star Trek: the new movie.
^ As you know, I don't care two hoots for this new "Movie Kirk". Just another reason why I believe there's a discontinuity between Pine's Kirk and the real one.
And decency code or not, I can find no fault in the thorough run-down of all the episodes and movies with Shatner's Kirk.

Not Chris Pine's Kirk, the OLD one!!!!
Anyway it takes talent years of training and lots of 40's movies to crack the code.

Re: Star Trek: the new movie.
Nevertheless, I can see no factual errors in the run-down at that site. Action (or lack thereof) speaks larger than words.
As it concludes:
Times Kirk uses his charm: 6.
Times a past girlfriend is brought up (and some may not have even had sex with him): 7 (at the most).
Times Kirk kisses (and some of them are debatable): 8.
Times Kirk has sex (and a couple are debatable): 3.
And please note that some of these figures overlap for the same girl.
And as it says:
But this isn't about Abrams Trek, and we got side-tracked. I just wanted to take the opportunity to right a wrong, obviously to no avail. People will believe what they believe. I even think Shatner himself started to believe in the rumours about his character.
It also obvious that the makers of this new reboot bought into this myth.

And as it says:
Kirk does not go for bimbos, and he does not jump on a new girl every episode. He was shown to be capable of love and commitment. We saw him flirt a lot, but he fell in love only a couple of times, and he was not always getting girls. He pushed women away more often than he embraced them. All the evidence anyone needs for proof is available for your viewing pleasure.
Many of the things people like to think about Captain Kirk are their own fantasies, which have little support in canon materials. Sure, some people may feel Kirk has a reputation of being a ladykiller, but a person can get a reputation without having done much to deserve it, as we can see.
But this isn't about Abrams Trek, and we got side-tracked. I just wanted to take the opportunity to right a wrong, obviously to no avail. People will believe what they believe. I even think Shatner himself started to believe in the rumours about his character.

Re: Star Trek: the new movie.
Honestly I thought Chris Pine's Kirk was a typical brash, arrogent, bulletproof, cocky son-of-a-gun 21-25 year old man. Nothing too extreme there.

Re: Star Trek: the new movie.
Regarding the "Orion"...
Since Enterprise is supposed to be canon in the new movie's universe (Nero arrived AFTER Enterprise, so....) and the adventure with the Orion bimbos taking over the ship is canon, for some reason I find the idea of Starfleet allowing an Orion female to join its ranks massively asinine. Because of this, I prefer to think of the young woman as a green skinned human following the latest artificial tanning craze.
Wanna drive the boys wild? GO GREEN!
An additional benefit might be that she doesn't have to eat. She just stands in the sun for two hours every day and photosynthesizes.

Hahahahahahaha
Well THAT is certainly a new POV on that catch-phrase. But I don't mind it, not ALL Orian women have to be deadly nympho's to enhance organized galactic crime. They can be nice nympho's looking to explore the universe peacefully.

Ah, so Orions are really plant life forms, much like the Delvians in Farscape (they were blue however).

Are there plants that trun human men into raging nymphos open to suggestion because I thought that's what they normally are.

I like Distracted's theory -- it fits perfectly. (Minus the photosynthesis, LOL.) I could imagine the Cosmo cover for that one.

OK Why do you object to Orians in Starfleet? Compared to Deltans they're tame.

I think the objection was with regards to timing. Not enough time had passed from Archer's Orions to this early-Kirk-era Orion. But I could be wrong.

Well for a trampy kind of girl which could just be biology I liked her. Kirk needs someone more voracious than him anyway. Keep his ego in check.
