Re: And what if...?
Lady Rainbow. In another thread I referred to some experiments that some Japanese doctors were running in WWII.
NOT a slam at Japanese at all. Just using it as an anology for another point.
I am 74 and remember the war years and what was revealed afterwards about the Germans, russinas, Japanese and the Americans. U.S. was not blameless in that War and after.
So please do not take offense at my post it was not meant to be bigoted or aimed at any one peoples.

Peace?

Love to see that, actually. She probably could too, because he'd underestimate her.

Peace. I kinda understood what you were trying to say.
For the record, in real life, I'm Filipino/Chinese, with a smidgen of Japanese.

Warpgirl, Why should Hoshi kick Hayes Butt? He is a nice guy for a MAACO.
If she wanted to kick anyones butt I nominate Kelby. He could use it.

No I meant with mandatory hand-to-hand training thatthe MACO's set up. Hoshi has a reputation, and I thought it would be funny if sweet little Hoshi went Ninja on Hayes. You know for a laugh. I LOVE Hayes!!!!
I love Steven Culp. I wish they hadn't killed him off.

Re: And what if...?
I wish they hadn't killed off hayes either. that was one of the dumber deaths on enterprise.
He was in a safe place. others had been beamed aboard from that spot all
he had to do was wait a second or two.
No he gets up and walks right into a phaser pistol. Stupid.
also wish that the Hayes Malcom fight had not taken place that too was idiotic.
Again it was stupidity on the part of the Beebs.
Hayes was a major and Reed was a Lt (equivalent of a Captain in the MAACOs) So he could not ourtank Hayes and would not be in comand. He could coordinate with hayes about security. maybe Hayes responsible for external security and Malcom for internal security.
Wish there was some active duty military on this board they would have a field day.

There are military here Elessar (I think I finally spelled it right, darn fingers!) Is a Marine sort of... He's thinking of going back into the reserves. Hayes just proves my point that Starfleet IS NOT Military in this era. Heck they even say it.
What if... Soval was secretly planning with the Syrranites to topple the VHC!

Re: And what if...?
All right Warpgirl where does it say that Starfleet is NOT military?
I have seen episode where Archer comes in to the room and the people in it stand at attention.
Archer is addressed as Sir or by his Rank.
He frequently says "that is an Order.
That is pure military. I any mans language.
Hoshi, reed, Travis all address Trip as commander or sir.
t-Pol addresses Archer as Captain or on occasion as sir.In damage she loses control and smashes the padd on his desk and says that she won't let him do what he proposes.
but then she apologies and again calls him sir. she never again does that. She always respeccts his rank.
T-Pol addresses Trip as commander although she doesn't have to since they are of equal rank. It is only later that she addresses him as Trip but not always. She reverts to calling him commander very often.

Re: And what if...?
It's said in The Expanse and Anomaly. Malcolm certainly didn't consider himself military this is a quote, "Growing up in a military family, I've known men like Hayes all my life... the rest is parahrased His objections had nothing to do with our safety he thinks we can't handle the job" Malcolm grew up in a Royal Navy family he joined Starfleet to get out. And of course to play James Bond. I'm sorry but that's what they wrote. I agree its a little stupid, and MORE than a little CONFUSING. But I'm only going by the book on this one. Do you realize how rare that is for me. I'm shocked!

Re: And what if...?
Malcom Joined Starfleet to get away from the Royal Navy as represented by his Father who was an Admiral and a stuffed shirt who obbviously demanded that Malcom be military.
Malcom didn't hate the military he hated his Dad and what his Dad did to him. It was only incidental that his father was a Admiral and a martinent.
Starfleet may have offered Malcom a job in section 31 as an inducement to get him to join up.Remeber Malcom said he wa a young Esign and it sounded exciting.
Malcom often chided Archer for being too lientient with his subordinates. that is the military in Malcom coming out. Malcom seemed to adore the spit and polish of the Military. he was
uncomfortable with socilizing with his commander even to having breakfast with Archer.
Malcom personfied the Military on enterprise.

Re: And what if...?
OK I posted a thread on the "Military or Not" question in the NON SHIP section. I didn't want to deprive people of the what if's. I also posted an interesting link and tomorrow I'll look for more.
