I'm so sorry about your ferret, Distracted.
I'm sure she knew that she was loved.

Re: The Whine thread.
Distracted, I'm sorry about your loss. Pets give us such unconditional love, usually when we need it most.
Reading gives us someplace to go when we have to stay where we are. (Mason Cooley)

Re: The Whine thread.
Yes, I'm sorry, Distracted. My stepdaughter had two ferrets for awhile and they were the most entertaining little creatures.
OMG, ANOTHER new chapter! NORTH STAR Chapter 28

Re: The Whine thread.
Callously double-posting, my apologies ... but fireworks in a cold rain just ain't what you expect in July. The summerfest went off as planned across the street and that included the fireworks, but the rain started before they did. Got pretty heavy. Soggy fireworks are definitely a little less impressive and that was even before my glasses got wet.
It was probably a good thing for us, though, since the wind was blowing them over our house. No worries about hot remnants falling on us or it tonight...

I'm very sorry to hear of your ferret's passing, Dis. I know how hard it can be to lose a beloved pet, especially for children. I think it's sweet that they made a cross and everything.
Re: The Whine thread.
Sorry about your pet, Dis. I know how that feels.

Add me to those who grieve with you, Distracted.

Well yes. I continue to write. And on Fanfiction.Net, for those who want, it is possible to cast a glance at my latest efforts. We arrived to
The Ears of the Elves, chapter Forty-four
And here is the beginning of the whole story.

But, I must say, you could also find something else on Fanfiction.net written by me. If you want.

I grieve with thee, Distracted. Truely. We lost our beloved pet rabbit, Oriana, at age 8 a couple of months ago.
Working on a major fan fic project. Two-thirds done. Hope to put it up in the not TOO distant future.

Re: The Whine thread.
OK, so I ate something yesterday that apparently didn't agree with my digestive system. It's not that it came out the wrong way, but... I'll spare you the details!
I seem better now (*knocks on wood*) but what a way to start my vacation.

They are six weeks, KTR, six weeks.
I'm very displeased for you, but they are six weeks.

Re: The Whine thread.
I hope your digestive system continues to behave itself, KTR. You sure you just didn't do too much celebrating on the first day of your vacation?
Today I experienced a first for me. I told the girls at the office about the ferret this am... and got a bit teary-eyed doing it. (Yes, I know she was just a weasel. Can't help it. She was my fourth child...the one with special needs.
) So after lunch I find this SYMPATHY card on my desk.
I guess maybe I am overreacting a little to the death of a small furry creature.
The card was nice, though.

Pretty sure, since I stayed indoors the entire time as the rain was pouring down all day.
And I too am sorry about your furry pet, Distracted!

Re: The Whine thread.
You've never had a pet EVER? That's just so sad! How could you get to be an adult without ever having so much as a hamster? Are you allergic? Was your mom pet-poop phobic or something?
You know, even if you're allergic to dogs, cats, and rodents, ferrets aren't genetically related to any of them. They're an indoor pet and they stay fun and playful like a kitten (a conniving, thieving kitten
). As long as you don't mind cleaning a litter box twice a day (really rapid metabolism=really rapid intestinal transit time=lots of poop) they're great indoor pets for busy people because they can stay in a cage while you're at work until you want to let them out to play in the evening, and they're most active at night, so they stay up with you and keep you company. You just keep the cage in the main room and not in the bedroom so they stay socialized and don't keep you up at night. If you handle them a lot when they're kits so they're used to you they don't bite. (And keep shiny things and white things out of reach or they'll disappear!
)
