Ethical subroutines deleted indeed! Jeezum crow, it sounds like a suspenseful plot but a real offense against Star Trek's own view of Starfleet.

Darpa’s Handheld Nuclear Fusion Reactor http://www.wired.com/dangerroom/2009/07/darpas-handheld-nuclear-fusion-reactor/. I like how they call DARPA the Pentagon's mad science arm  .

HANDHELD!??? Does it come with lead underwear and free leukemia screening? If so, I'll bet Elessar will want one for his collection. 8)

If they could make it small enough and powerful enough they could make portable Gauss guns.

A 'scar' the size of Earth and nobody saw it coming?

I personally like that it was an amateur who made the discovery. Chalk one up for the little guys.

That is interesting. It's no surprise that Green Berets and Navy Seals are different, but the idea that the difference is party in their brains... wow. Intuition is more powerful than we think.

Very interesting. Now I want to know why some people don't have that natural arm-swinging gait. I noticed a fair number of stiff non-arm-swingers in the hotel lobby this weekend. Could it be something genetic? Neurological? And does this mean that carrying stuff in both hands while you walk really tires you out even more than you'd expect from just carrying stuff? And is it worse if it's just in one hand than if it's both? (Seems that way to me.) And does carrying something on your head instead conserve energy, then?
