Tarot cards, LOL! I collect tarot decks for their beauty. But I also read for myself and family and my reading deck is the Robin Wood! 8) I don't read for anyone except family and close friends. Picked up tarot reading from some of my fellow Wiccans. I was even thinking of designing a tarot deck with my granddaughter - for boaters. I have not come across a boater's deck yet when I looked on Aeclectic tarot site: http://www.aeclectic.net/tarot/. Anyone else use this site? Also, anyone have any of the Ciro Marchetti decks? They are works of art. I don't have one of his decks yet, but it is on my wish list!

Working on some fanfic and some editing, just not at my usual speed yet. :)

I'm happy you're back, and I hope things are well more and more.
Well yes. I continue to write. And on Fanfiction.Net, for those who want, it is possible to cast a glance at my latest efforts. We arrived to
The Ears of the Elves, chapter Forty-four

And here is the beginning of the whole story.

But, I must say, you could also find something else on Fanfiction.net written by me. If you want.

I'm a Waite deck girl myself. I've had other decks, but I always come back to the one I learned on.

I'm glad your health is improving, Lady Rainbow. Chronic ailments tend to suck.

The Waite decks are nice, more like the original tarot, historically. I have one which shows the scenes from the opposite side, so you see what's behind the chair kind of thing. But the Robin Wood deck really spoke to me, especially the death card with the birch trees in the background. My father had passed away recently when I first saw this deck and somehow the deck was comforting - signifying transformation rather than final parting. I like to do a reading as an intellectual exercise as much as really foretelling anything. My favorite book to help with readings is "Learning the Tarot" by Joan Bunning which offers shades of psychological meanings. So I say "does the reading fit? What can I figure out from it about my current situation and possible alternate paths?", I have several tarot books, but this basic one is still my favorite.

I learned from The Complete Guide to the Tarot, by Eden Grey. It was all that was available at Bedrock U.'s student bookstore. :D

As far as I know, it's simply clever Japanese merchandising to little girls that has taken off here over the last decade or so, but maybe there's some cartoon or something involved.

It's been around since 1976. It's a company called Sanrio. It's big in Asia, and showed up here in the 80's (I used to live in Richmond and Vancouver, where the population of Asians is eclipsing that of non-Asians. All the little girls in my grade 4 and 5 class had Hello Kitty notebooks, purses, pencils, pencil cases, etc etc etc so I had to have them too. )

It's just a character, not a show or anything. (Although it's probably been MADE into a show by now.) It's just characters for merchandising crap that you buy.

Aureilia loves it now.

HELLO KITTY!!!

She's turning 35 this year, you know. It's a big deal. There actually was a TV show, there are entire stores dedicated to her and her cohorts, and even MAC cosmetics put out a special Hello Kitty line earlier this year (I'm the proud owner of a swarovski-encrusted compact and lipgloss-- bubblegum pink and sparkly, of course.) *sigh* You know it's bad when I bring my little Japanese mug with embossed pink cats into a project advancement meeting and the President of the company asks me how I'm enjoying my tea in the hello kitty mug...

On a thread related note, I have three tarot decks of my own--

1. My main deck: Legend (all of the images are based on Arthurian legends. Lovely and very easy for me to read
2. My anime deck-- adorable! Too cute and happy for any negative readings
3. A circle deck that I just don't feel any urge to read. So I don't.

I started reading after having my tarot read in college. The woman who did read gave me the best advice in the world-- she pulled the World card for me-- i'm not quite certain what position in the layout since at the time I didn't know how to read, then said: "I don't see anything about love, but I do see something very important-- you currently hold the world in your hands-- a scholarship--and it's so important. It's so easy to drop this. Don't." At the time, I was on full scholarship that was dependent on a high GPA... and I was slipping. Whether or not she actually knew something or was just shooting in the dark, her advice was golden. I try to always keep that first reading in mind when I read for others.

(edited cause I forgot how old HK REALLY is)
