Okay here's a dilemma
I'm getting a decent download rate (read: 20 something) on season 2 of BSG right now. But it's like almost 1am. Should I wait like 6 hours for the download to finish or go to sleep and wait another day (gah!!) for my season 2 Confused

Listening to Pendulum Happy Jump

I don't even know how many times I've listened this over and over again today, jumping and dancing around like crazy. Laughing

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0AuD0OXCv88

I heard that song last summer when I was in "Konemetsä" electronic music festival. I didn't have any idea who's song it was and what it was called and now I finally found it I'm so happy. Happy Jump

Aha, I'm not the only person who listens to the same song over and over!

Guffaw

I love that question. I'd go to bed. Then when you wake up, you hve a whole season to be happy about. Know how pathetic I get with downloads on series sometimes? On BitComet you can selectively download certain episodes first out of a whole torrent file (and I'm sure you can on other clients too) but that way you can download like 1 or 2 350 meg eps at a time instead of the whole 9 gb or w/e, LOL. Pretty sad. Gotta get my fix piecewise Bow Down

Btw, were you dying (pun) to see what happened to Adama? I sure as hell was.

Oh yeah! This isn't a BSG fan thread... ok

Watching: Just got done watching Countdown with Keith Olbermann - my new fav. news show. Well, only news show I watch. But this woman anchor has sat in for Keith two nights in a row Sad . She's gorgeous, but she's not Keith Olbermann Sad

Listening to: Massive Attack - Future Proof

Did today: Ran a 6:07 mile! Take that heart! My pulse was 192 afterwards Shock Cool

The song I listen to over and over is "If Everyone Cared" by Nickelback. Seriously... somebody, somebody who's a video guru - that's a song for Trip and T'Pol. PERFECT song for a Trip and T'Pol song... towards the end, you could lean into a general Trek vid about all the diplomatic stuff they've done and trace it all back to TnT. Listen to the song and yall'll see how it relates. Like that.... yall'll? Wink

Actually when I go to bed I can't leave my laptop on, I can't have it on in the room after 10pm because it's a shared space and obviously can't leave it outside where I always sit when it's late and just go to bed because like duh, someone's gonna steal it Confused and can't sleep outside either. Confused Confused So basically when I go to sleep the download goes to sleep too. Sad So now I'm still downloading Sad 89.7% come on dammit Sad

89.8%

GAHHHHHH Crying or Very sad

LOL, good god. You're going to be around for awhile Wink. Seriously, uncheck all of them but the first 2 or 3, and then when they get done, check the next 2-3 while you watch those first 2-3, etc etc Cool Laughing

That way you get 2-3 every hour or so instead of 24 in the next 6 hours Smile

I have no idea how to pick episodes on BitTorrent if that's even possible, I checked the menus and didn't see anything Confused but the first 2 episodes and 5th episode are done anyway

Oh and I never even touch like the "fair" quality torrents AKA 350mb/ep (well unless it's only a single episode I'm downloading) I don't have enough space on my hard drive, and the download is slow already that would take like forever... I got me the shrunk-up 2.4mb/season torrent (which I'm gonna shrink even further like during/after watching to like ~47mb/ep to make space for the equally low quality season 3 download Confused Razz Mr. Green )

Holy jesus! 47 mg! Sad You lose so much! Get this, I had a 700 MB/ep rip of Stargate Atlantis Season 2. I've never seen an entire season of something ripped at that quality other than that one occurance.

But yeah. BitTorrent probably can't do it... but there's other clients out there, like BitComet, Azereus. You might want to check them out if only for the fact that when I had BitTorrent my dl speeds were horrible, they like quadrupled when I got BitComet.

BUT NEITHER I NOR TRIAXIANSILK.COM CONDONES OR SUPPORTS THE ACT OF COPYRIGHT INFRINGEMENT OR ILLEGAL PROCUREMENT OF COPYWRITTEN MATERIALS.

Yeah well if I had an infinite hard drive and 4 digit download rates (like pretty much all my frelling peers Mad ) I could have like a 700mb/ep series too. But right now I couldn't even fit one 700mb episode. Not even a 350mb. And it's not even done downloading Confused I still have like over a GB extra space in SGA episodes, like once I finally finish converting all of them to my usual ~47mb/ep but I can't do it now until I convert BSG because I don't have enough space to convert an SGA episode. Yeah the quality is like totally bad. But what can I do Sad I also do that because then it takes less CDs to burn them to, I don't have much space to put stuff so I can't have too much stuff and that way I can keep all the CDs in my backpack. Smile Oh and thanks for the tip about BitComet I'll check it out. Smile

Elessar, good point about copyright. The Dean Wesley Smith's board for writer's and potential writers is going down this weekend after being up several years. Dean is the editor who chose the stories for Strange New Worlds, the Pocket Books contest.

The reason the board is going away is that Dean consulted his lawyer about cases where people but a poem and an illustration on his board without getting permission from the creators of the poem and the illustration. The lawyer said Dean might be in legal trouble if it happens again. So Dean is taking the board down. It is a shame. It has been a great place for new writers to talk and get advice. I (and others) are trying to get the posts we want to keep, copied off the board before it goes away. Dean said we could do that. He has a lot of very good advice. But, since that advice is his own property, we are not to 'publish' it elsewhere, just keep it for our own education as writers. He says the posts on his site belong to the people that wrote them. And there is a link there now to copyright information. It is so sad the board is going away, but I think you can understand why. Yeah, it's good that you mentioned copyright issues here on this board.
Working on a major fan fic project. Two-thirds done. Hope to put it up in the not TOO distant future.
