Re: The Whine thread.
When a cat doesn't use the litterbox there could be other problems bladderstones or kidney stones which can cause alot of problems. Is your cat drinking enough water? If she's not then there could definitely some kind of infection. My Mom had a cat who quit drinking water and wouldn't use his litterbox he had kidney stones.here's asite I use to find out Veternarian info about Cats. link http://www.peteducation.com

Thank you I will look it up. But she is jumping around like usual and doesn't seem to be in pain thank god.

Cats can also stop using the box for other reasons. One time when the ex and I were fighting, Coco took a wizz in his boots. It was awesome.
Has kitty completely stopped using the box? Or is it sporadic? Also, are you sure it's inappropriate elimination, or could she be spraying? Both involve urine, but it's two different things. If she's going on a vertical surface like a wall or piece of furniture or something, she's spraying, which is a territorial thing. A lot of people think girl cats don't do that but they do, and this is the only issue that getting her spayed will fix. If she's making puddles on the floor, that's out-of-box elimination, and that's either medical or behavioral.

No she isn't spraying because it's not just urine unfortunately. Which is what freaked me out to begin with because she used to be fanatical about using her box. Now as far as I can tell she stoped using it period. She hides in corners like behind the tv and goes. I'm worried.

Hm, I wouldn't rule out some kind of emotional trauma. Have any maintenance men been around, or anybody she doesn't know come visiting? I've read that sometimes if they get spooked this can happen.

AAA is being slimy. We have the AAA Plus plan, but they don't want to pay for the tow I had because the policewoman called it in, not me. Well, it's not like they *tell* you that important info! (Plus the man on the phone was an
.) And the policewoman didn't even give me a choice about her or me calling. Anyway, the AAA jerk... I mean rep... said if the same call came in from me, it'd be covered.
But since the police called it in, I had to fork over $110. And no, they couldn't possibly make an exception, although he at length transferred the call to the member complaints department where a file was opened. (If you have to have a department called 'member complaints,' you've got issues!) Trying for reimbursement, but not optimistic. And my car was going to be held hostage until I gave the $110.
So, AAA members, take note!!! If you need a tow, and you don't call YOURSELF, the company will not pay!
Thinking about getting new roadside assistance company. It doesn't help that when you call for roadside assistance, they want you to go online.

Thanks honestly I think it's because of the fact I had to send my doggie to live with my mother. It was either that or he'd eventually break my neck pulling me out of my wheelchair. So I'd count that as an emotional trauma. I am going to look at this link.

Ah, that sucks. You need someone to embarrass them in front of potential customers. Does the local paper or TV station do a consumer advocate feature?
I dropped them years ago because they would only tow me to certain garages, where I always felt like a hostage. I think that has changed, but I still don't use them. Can't recommend the place I do use, though, mostly because it's hard to understand the Mumbai accents.
My car insurance includes roadside assistance but I've never been brave enough to ask them what that's about and can I really use it. My general philosophy with insurance is not to use it until I really need it. Came from living in NJ where they would drop you if you looked at them funny. It was hard as hell finding any insurer there. Prudential, after initially signing me up, then refused to insure me because I had 'nothing' on my driving record. The state of NH explained that this was because I had a perfect driving record with no violations of any kind. Nope, that wasn't good enough. I have happily boycotted Prudential ever since (much to my benefit).

Re: The Whine thread.
Because they make more money that way.
Honestly, usually if you fight them tooth and nail up the supervisory ladder, you can get them to back down. At least, it often works with health insurance companies. They count on a certain percentage of people just folding up at the early stages and intentionally gear the claims process towards that (I've had friends who worked in the industry).
The bastards.

It really is sick. I see comercials for all types of insurence and even the adds are smarmy.

So far Allstate (my insurance co.) has been pretty good. Then again, it's not like I'm trying to deny that it was my error. But AAA is going to be a fight. Just because the police called instead of me! The thing is, it doesn't change the cost; it just gives AAA a loophole to weasel out of paying for the service we paid for.

Re: The Whine thread.
I'd be really concerned about a female kitty that has stopped using the litter box. Spraying is territorial male kitty behavior that can be corrected. A blocked urethra is also a male kitty issue. It could be an infection, but sometimes cats just locate a smell and then return to that place again and again. It can be more of a behavioral problem and very difficult to correct. I would take her to the vet to rule out anything physical. In the meantime, make sure any area that she uses is cleaned thoroughly. Try covering the area with something. Maybe try a different cat litter. Cats like materials they can dig in to. Maybe she'd like the sand type better. Hopefully she will stop this behavior, but it could be challenging.
Eric has been pretty sick the past few days. The girls had a cough but didn't get ill. I'm just really hoping it isn't Swine Flu. We're going to get him an appointment at the doctor today. I found out recently that H1N1 has already been in the local elementary school that my youngest attended last year. I guess there's no avoiding it.

Re: The Whine thread.
Eeek! This swine flu business seemed to die down some and I thought that was going to be the end of it, like a couple of other things that have cropped up in the last few years. Alas, not so much, at least for now.
Update: AAA is reimbursing me and apologized for the guy who was such a condescending jerk. It's amazing what a difference someone who cares (and is higher up the food chain) can do.
