Cool This is Starfleet people, Not the US, or Royal Navies. Starfleeters dont come with common sence included. Raspberry

Any whos if one wanted they could apply some logic to the plan of sending one out gunned ship against the BOP. Confused If the BOP looked at its sensors an saw that every combat capable ship in system was headed right for them, they could in theory find away to escape, or go off an hide again. So by sending the Triton Archer has created a stalling action. The BOP crew is more occupied with their battle with the Triton, rather then finding away to escape/or hide. This buys more time for Endeavour, an the other Starfleet vessels to arrive on the scene to enguage the BOP. But its a pretty costly plan.

Awesome scene Rigil. Cool
I cant help but wonder if the Triton dos end up smackin into that over grown rock. Or if a certin hero ship manages to "catch" them first.

You misunderstand the naming scheme. T'Pol's name is added because she is the official "discoverer" of said comet.

No I got the naming scheme thing.
I just thought it was funny, cause well if T'Pol was a Human women, then more then likely she wouldnt be all that impressed at havin a giant chunk of Ice named after her.
Ok If the Rommie ship is possin as the "Saratoga", then how are they pulling that off? Cause shouldnt the Saratoga, an all friendly ships have their warp cores online? (Since Id Imagine they all would need warp drive inorder to rid the system of the Rommie garbage tug once it was located.) Confused So How are these Rommies fakin the sensor sig of an active warp core, when their's is actualy offline? They runnin their Impulse drive on overload or somethin?

Who says their warp core is offline? That was T'Pol's theory, not a fact.

Cool A long time ago, a not so great Trek Capn was said to have trusted the Guess of His Vulcan friend over the Facts of Others. So if T'Pol has a theory, Im gona lean twards it.
Saratoga is my 2nd all time fav ship name, after Enterprise ofcourse. Cool

Heh. And I scrapped the Enterprise, and have basically implied that something happened to the Saratoga too. Bet you're just loving this...

Confused Well at this rate I can wait to see what happens to the Yorktown, Lexington, Wasp, Hornet, Ranger, an I really dont give a crap about the Cowpen though. Raspberry
TnT I love em. Very Happy

That's exactly the logic behind it. This particular commander had displayed an ability to think under pressure and it managed to keep from being detected for over 3 days while in the system. Therefore, Archer made a hard call and sent the closest ship into harm's way to fight a delaying action in the hopes of slowing the Romulan down long enough while END makes tracks to get there.

Sorry if that wasn't clear...

The history of war is filled with difficult and sad decisions...and the history of war is the history of man...

Feh. All of history is defined by war. Especially peace time.

New history? You mean like today's headlines? Palestine? Iraq? Somalia? North Korea? Lebanon?

No, actually I was referring to a major historiographical shift. (That is to say, for a long time history was written about wars from the perspective of important white men. Then people said, what about women? Minorities? Social movements at home? What can we learn from folk stories? So, many historians stopped focusing on wars and generals.) Sorry to tax the rest of you with history-speak.

That sound so Garak-like to me.

Right. Back to the story. Is this supposed to be happening in the asteriod belt between Mars and Jupiter?

oh i agree archer didnt have a lot of choice..
they had to get the romulan ship busy or it might launch more missles or take off some place else.

if i were the captain the one thing i would have done different after i got the romulans attention and got them in the field is let them chase after me and instead of wasting torpedos on their defnse systems aim them at the asteriods.

give theme some extra targets for their shields and defense systems.
and only go after them if it looked like they would leave.

because the longer you are alive the more you give the fleet a chance to get into position.

Thank you! Cool Is also true, IMO.

What part? This scene? Yeah. 434 Hungaria is an actual named asteroid.

There's a problem with that thinking, though. The actual asteroid belt is nothing like the one in The Empire Strikes Back. If you launch something toward it, there's only a one in a billion chance that it's going to hit an asteroid. The distance between the pieces of stellar debris out there are vast...

those torpedos can be targeted and they certainly seemed to be near one at least..
