Well, it must be a problem since you're Swedish.

Yeah, I know. A couple of years back I declined to apply for a job that I'd probably have gotten (and that had better pay) because it was in the northern part of Sweden, which has a lot more snow and is a lot colder for a lot longer.

Well, the snow had now rained away today. But it'll be back. We're fast approaching December after all...

I thought I'd try to organize my husband's clothing a bit before he got home from PR today. He has so much clothing that he uses the basement as his closet because there's no way it would fit in a normal bedroom closet. He has three full closet racks, two full dressers plus a half dresser and a set of shelves, and there's still not enough room to put it all away. He has at least 24 pairs of shoes down there. At least a third of all this I would toss straight into the dumpster or the rag bags if I were sorting it at the thrift shop. He has so much crap I don't think he even ever sees half of it. Everything is now crammed full but I still have a laundry basket I couldn't put away, another of stuff that needs to be washed, plus another hamper full in the dryer right now, plus a pail of rags I picked out and a giant garbage bag full of the stuff that was absolutely irredeemable, which I'll have to stow in a corner for awhile just in case he misses something.

I guess somehow this comes of growing up without enough stuff and having nails on the walls for your closets.

Of course, he could probably point out much the same about my own mess of "potentially useful someday" gardening shit on the other side of the basement, so I guess I should shut up now.

I'd love to have that kind of a wardrobe! And shoes, lots of lovely killer high-heel shoes! I am quite jealous of your husband.

You'd rather live in a giant overstuffed closet than in an apartment?

He got so depressed with that basement that he moved his desk upstairs, so that his half of the living room is now a giant pile of clutter, too. (It's a big desk and a small living room.) Sigh. My desk isn't any better most of the time, but at least I can close the door on it when guests are around.

I'd invite him to split my office with me, but then I wouldn't have any place to start seeds in the winter. And that's another thing you definitely want to be able to close the door on when guests are around.

Also, his clutter would eventually just fill up the entire room, because unlike me he never throws away or gives away anything he isn't using, especially books. For example, there are at least six old briefcases in this house, including a fair number just lined up in the living room next to his desk, all full of crap.

Hi, Honey. Welcome home! No, I'm not cranky.

Well no... But isn't most girls dream to have a room full of clothes shoes and Jewelery? Besides I'm very organized.

Okay. But I can't speak to the most, not being in that group myself, and I honestly can't say I've observed it in many of my female friends. Maybe one or two. Also one sister-in-law.

Did you know they sell Jimmy Choo's at H&M now? I'm still so broke I can't even afford that! And H&M always has my size too! :(

Hey it's a legitimate whine! Jimmy Choo's are only the third best shoes in the world! I'm whining because I can't even afford the mass market ones. Legitimate whine!

Okay, okay!

To me Jimmy Choos sound like they ought to be some kind of peanutbutter candy. (Jimmy Carter chews?)

Here's my whine: if I don't get a bowl of cereal about now, the cat starts chewing on papers in my office and meowing in a very complaining, throaty tone that sounds like "MA!" every thirty seconds. But I don't want a bowl of cereal, because I pigged out really badly earlier. (Yes, obviously, I usually let him lick the bowl.)

I just hope I don't have to tell a student someday, "I'm sorry, but my cat ate your homework."

I have only three pairs of shoes: plastic "dogs"/"crocs"/whatever, one runners, and one sandals for "nice shoes". Oh and rain boots. I have $13 rain boots from Walmart.
