I do love a man in a greatcoat.

I think I've missed a few of those costume dramas. Perhaps I should fire up the Netflix list. (Although you know how I feel about that version of Persuasion! The actors may be handsome but the production is AWFUL AWFUL AWFUL!) So is Casanova worth watching? And Amazing Grace?

I don't know about Casanova. And I personally didn't watch Amazing Grace either, but people who did told me that it's a typical British period movie: great atmosphere, great actors (Ioan Gruffudd ), everything very professional and elaborate, but quite cold. And not much to do with Austen.

I watched Amazing Grace and yes, it was very British and nothing to do with Austen, but I didn't found it cold, for me it was very touching. That some one would fight for a great cause (the end of slavery) - seeing all people as equeal and worth of respect - and finally see that change come using a little change in the law with great consequences.

Oh, THAT Amazing Grace. Duh, yes, I always meant to see that one.

I saw Wives and Daughters and enjoyed it, though the evil stepmother certainly isn't subtly drawn. There was nothing subtle at all, really, but it was fun.
