It's also a promising sign for Tucker's command crew, eh? None of them said anything to their juniors, so its probable that LT Hayes doesn't know...unless he does and neglected to inform Harris for some reason...

earths on fleet has already been through several major battles.
they already had their equivalent to pearl harbor.
That said, there were considerable forces present, all with clout, combating the very idea of the war. Whether its the anti-war crowd or the media, there was sufficient ... "noise" for lack of a better word to cloud the issue and make most normal, uninvolved people to not care. Compare it to Joe Sixpack in the States who doesn't care about Iraq (whether pro or con) because he's tired of hearing about it.
and i dont know how well the anology to well people dont care what happens in afirica ect..
because , in certain world circumstances two things then have to be considered.
one of a lot of these conflicts have been ongoing in one form or another for awhile with small periods of peace in between.
the other despite in certain cases there being interested third parties a lot of the conflicts are seen as internal and a lot less easy to resolve.
I'm not talking about small groups of people who are interested in intervening. I'm talking about the large majority who, frankly, don't care because it's taking place Over There, or who simply don't know about the extent of the problem because the media is more interested in Paris Hilton's absurdity than actually reporting the important stuff. Thus was borne my analogy.
to me the people especially would have in a dither after the defeat of acheron.
and it isnt just pearl harbor;.. see the effect the sinking of the maine had.
Again, I point to how the defeat is being reported to the majority of people. I'm simply using modern examples of how journalism can affect a military outcome (Vietnam, anyone?) and extrapolating a possible scenario. Whenever I complain about how absurd T'Pol's position in the chain of command was, I'm deluged with people pointing to American Revolution and Napoleonic-era military stuff as an answer ... so why can't I argue that the media and journalists of the 22nd century are just as hypocritical as their modern counterparts? No offense to those of you might actually be honest journalists.
as for the effects shot not matching up.
meh.. this is what can happen when the effects team is often having to work with differet phases of a script and the time/money dosnt exist to go back and fix it.
Or maybe Venezuela became an evil power house in the 21st century and took over most of South America! So ... the screenshot is actually accurate since Panama is now a part of Venezuela!

as for harris.
he struck me with having a bit of an ego.
it may have been pricked so much that to one up archer about the traitor he tells him about malcolm.
Why in God's name would he do that? Archer is standing there with a phase pistol!

H: By the way, I faked Reed's death and have him working for me under duress.
A: What?!
H: If he tries to contact a family member, I'll have that family member killed.
A: Grrrr...ZAP!
