Seriously. No matter what, this guy would tell it like it is. He wasn't without compassion--quite the opposite!--but yeah, if you needed a verbal smack upside the head, you got it! 8)

McCoy's the best Trek doctor ever! No other had even come close.

You may be right but I don't want him to be my OBGYN.

I agree with Kevin. McCoy was the best Trek doctor. Has anyone read those crucible books. If you didn't love him before, you would definatly after. His is the best of the three in my opinion. Theres anouther book that I like with him, but I don't really remember the name I think it was like Shadows of the Sun or something. And some of my favorite episodes are McCoy-centric. "For the World is Hollow and I Have Touched the Sky" (btw what's up with that name. seriously?) "The Empath" and "The Man Trap"

I've read the Crucible books the McCoy novel was the best one.Shadows on the sun is really good so is Dreams of the Raven by Carmen Carter.Doctor's orders by Diane Duane is a really good McCoy novel too.Crisis on Cetnarus is about McCoy and his daughter Joanna who's missing after a an attack takes place on Cenatarus and McCoy is anxious to find out his daughter is okay.

I'm with Distracted on the new Captain Pike! From TOS, Spock was my guy, but Bones and Scotty were the guys I'd have loved to have as my best friends. The new Bones is also a guy I would give a second look but the new Spock and the new Scotty...just friends.

 in the DS9 episode, "Trials and Tribble-ations", Sisko, Dax, O'Brien and Worf went back in time to the events of the Trouble with Tribbles TOS episode... Dax recognizes Bones... says she met him when he was an undergrad at UMiss... that he had "the hands of a surgeon".... of course this was not Jadzia Dax, it was one of the previous Dax's.

Then technically he didn't have a romance with Dax just one of Dax's hoasts right? I never got the Trill. Never.

I love the Trill; they are my favorite aliens after the Vulcans. You can have such complex plots with them. It is too bad they didn't have any episodes with them in Enterprise.

, yeah, I mean since "Jadzia Dax" is supposed to be "Jadzia" AND "Dax", he had a fling with "Dax" and part of Dax is in Jadzia.
