Re: The Whine thread.
Hello Hoshi? That's pretty funny.
Talk about idiotic design. Can you lightly rub a pencil over a piece of paper on the buttons and bring up what it says in relief?
I have a whine, too: this storm that was supposed to miss us has dumped at least six inches so far, made the roads just awful, and stuck my brother and his family in Massachusetts instead of staying over with us tonight. Also, feral kitty was so freaked out by the snow shovel on the front porch this morning that she left her well-insulated bunker in the corner of the porch and hasn't been seen since. I hope she doesn't freeze to death out there.
But hey, at least we've finally made use of the new snow thrower, so we know it works.

Alelou, good idea. Will try it. Still wonder why in Hell the damned lettering isn't in white instead of the same color as the background.
Hope you can geet out when you need to.

Re: The Whine thread.
Still snowing, but at least kitty finallly came home. Boy, did she give me a piece of her mind about the weather, too! I tried to entice her indoors, but she never comes in more than a few steps.

Re: The Whine thread.
There is yet more mouse blood on my bathroom floor. this is the second mouse this week my little girl has tortured and killed. I don't like listening to the little shreeks. On the up side, I thought her skills wouldn't develop because she wasn't in a littler long enough. Not so. She hunts quite viciously.

Re: The Whine thread.
If we had mice in the house, I'd be incredibly grateful to our cat for doing them in, even if it did involve blood and tiny shrieks. And given what the voles eat out of my garden every year, I don't cry over their little decapitated corpses outside, either. (Have you ever tried to harvest a carrot crop and discovered most of them have been eaten from underneath?) That's the reason humans domesticated cats in the first place.

Re: The Whine thread.
But my dear Alelou here's the thing about little WarpGirl... She may fight like crazy about Vulcans, Jedi, Sith, and the fact that in reality there are very few areas where relationships fail because of one person... But truly she really is a bleeding-heart softy. And she feels bad about the little cute mice, and wishes they were not hazardous to good human health and could use a litter box. Because then she'd have a lot more pets to play with. She knows the mice have to die, she just doesn't like that they hurt, and she DOES NOT like Disposing of the bodies. And mouse blood on the floor it's like CSI.

Re: The Whine thread.
Fortunately it's mouse DNA in that blood, and there's an obvious suspect if they use luminol to turn it up!
(And why is "View active topics" not working, Alelou wonders?)
You could always keep some cute little mice in an aquarium safely barricaded from little WarpGirl. We were quite entertained by them in PetSmart the other day. They really are darling with their funny big ears. They reminded me of Desperaux, a lovely children's book that bears adult reading too.

So it's a bad winter in Sweden, too? It's been miserable here. Snow, snow, snow, ice, ice, ice and tonight it's a 20 below windchill!

Re: The Whine thread.
Believe me. It's a bad winter also here.
Well yes. I continue to write. And on Fanfiction.Net, for those who want, it is possible to cast a glance at my latest efforts. We arrived to
The Ears of the Elves, chapter Forty-four
And here is the beginning of the whole story.

But, I must say, you could also find something else on Fanfiction.net written by me. If you want.

Re: The Whine thread.
I love winter. Except for higher heating bills, shoveling snow off sidewalks, falling on my butt on ice patches, cracked and bleeding fingers, chapped lips, taking ten minutes to get dressed to go outside, having to warm up the car a long time, having city buses stop running early on snow emergency days so I can't get home on days I don't drive to work. I changend my mind. I hate winter.

I like it. In my part of the world we rarely get snow, so we got a bunch and it was nice.

Re: The Whine thread.
well we're sitting here with a bit of rain and nothing else. and a forlorn new sled on the livingroom floor all day. We got one snow day earlier in December and we tried and tried to sled on it with a big piece of floppy clear plastic....like a giant thick saran wrap. It worked just enough to make you kind of want to keep trying to make it work, but not enough that we could call it anything like a "success".
So we're waiting for snow and waiting for snow, just to get one or two sleds in, and nada.
we have this little hatchet for chopping wood that's only about 14" long, and not super sharp. But our wood is mostly seasoned enough you can chop it despite the crappy hatchet. Anything tough or with any knots is out though. So Priso got this giant mallet with a 3 foot handle. (Well, to *me* it is giant, but actually, it has this crazy writing on the side of the head that says "8 lbs". But that can't be right, cause it's redonkulously heavy to me, and that would make me a total feeb.)
Anyway, now it's fun. You chop with the wee axe just so it bites into the wood. Then with the "giant mallet", you hit the dull axe about 30 times, and it breaks the wood up! Bwahahaha! No wood can defy me now!
Priso stands and watches through the glass livingroom door, shouting advice and repeatedly trying to come out to "help" me.
He can't help it.
