That's because you obviously don't weigh enough to make a noticeable dent in the ground. Try it when you weigh over two hundred and fifty pounds. Then see how much it hurts.

Nice picture of your husband, Bether. He kinda looks like Kov, Trip's Vulcan friend.
Uh, the only riding I ever did was English style, and while western seems very practical, I really liked English style. My cousin, Judy, had a horse named Dandy and let me ride whenever I liked. Jumping fences was fun and I don't think that would be very easy western style. Funny thing about Dandy - Judy's brother Jack came down with me once and rode him. Jack said Dandy laid back his ears every time he was out of sight of me while Jack was on his back. But as soon as he saw me again, he would put his ears forward. If I was sitting on a fence watching other riders, and Dandy was standing behind me, he would rest his head on my shoulder. Also he would wipe his nose on my shirt, a convenient snot rag. I miss him even though that was decades ago.

Working on a major fan fic project. Two-thirds done. Hope to put it up in the not TOO distant future.

See? No need for dorky British riding helmet.

It's more weight so it makes it tougher on the horse, but I've seen it done.

It's flavored with passionfruit
an appropriate ingredient, don't you think?

I've seen horses with riders using western gear jump fences, as in locally, in my home state of North Dakota.

But in North Dakota you ride big, hairy, macho horses that are raised on red meat. The kind of dainty high-steppers you usually see in horse shows are a different matter altogether.

Not really. The big hairy ones are used to pull stuff, not to ride.

Well, I admit to being a little uncertain about posting pictures on boards, but y'all seem friendly and harmless, so I figured why not?
