A marvelous actor, the quintessential Vulcan. And I notice that Vulcans do wear jewelry.

Evcake, nice photo of Sarek. Yes, he is the model Vulcan. But though a great man, not infallible. I like the more complex personalities. And very dignified and handsome. Sigh, they should have used him more in the series and movies. But at least they gave us enough of Sarek to be memorable. Plus they didn't ever degrade him in any scenes like happened with T'Pol in some of the ENT episodes.

I wonder what he would have said if they asked him to do a nude scene. Very Happy

There were two unnamed Romulan commanders in TOS. The one in Balance of Terror was played by Mark Lenard. Then there was a female one, played by Joanne Linville, in The Enterprise Incident, and she was the one that Spock "seduced".
She's got an awfully nice bum!

Also that beautiful blind woman in "In Truth is there no Beauty," who all the men were fighting over, I recognized as the woman that played feisty, 8-times-divorced old-lady doctor Pulaski in the second season of the Next Generation. I'm sure of it.

!!!! I'm SHOCKED. I thought I was a late comer. I was a rapid fan by the third season of Next Generation, and I also didn't get caught up in the OS when I first saw it. It was a close call, because in retrospect I realize that one of my best friends at the time (middle school?) was a Trekkie. I just found a picture of her in an old photo album wearing Spock ears. I'd forgotten all about that. And once, playing in her room, we acted out a Star Trek script she had. I got back in contact with her a few years ago, thanks to the Internet. Now she doesn't care about Star Trek, but I found out she is into Buffy and Firefly and writes fanfiction. Weird parallels.

Yes, that was the same actress. I just love it that some actresses can move on from the fleeting beauty of youth to strong female parts as they age instead of killing themselves or drowning themselves in alcohol or other drugs. I think they are more interesting, more complex in middle and old age than in the shallow, limited experience of youth. A lined face has its own deep beauty! And I am glad there are parts for strong female elders. Even in our fan fiction, they are great characters like Bnb's T'Para. And I think the guys (at least the ones with intelligence, integrity, and wisdom), even though they appreciate the beautiful curves of the youthful bodies, still find older women sexually attractive. They appreciate both at the same time. Just as we women love the men in our lives at all ages.

Yes, that was Diana Muldaur. She changed quit a bit, didn't she? It reminds me of the woman who played Miss Marple in some of the mystery episodes on PBS. Wendy Hiller? Not quite sure I have her name right. Well, I saw an old black and white movie with her as a young woman and she was stunningly beautiful, a kind of delicate beauty. I think delicate beauty fades fast. There are some women with bone structure that seems to keep their faces from changing much, I think. Anyone else notice that? But other women are almost unrecognizable after twenty, thirty, or forty years. Fascinating!

I recognized her instantly - she doesn't look or sound all that different to me.

So, I saw Return To Tomorrow on our local Vintage TV station. It has some nice scenes for Spock - as Henock, he gets to be smarmy and evil.

Image

Discorporate entities need to borrow the bodies of the crew. Well, some of the crew. Captain gets girl (temporarily, as she hosts an alien.) Nurse Chapel gets her guy (sort of, mentally, for the one and only time.) And Dr. McCoy gets to make one of his famous quotes: "I’m a physician, I do not peddle flesh!.”

In the end, the flesh is too strong for even these advanced intellects.

I just watched "The Ultimate Computer." M5 takes over the ship. I loved it! Nothing but great lines in that episode, especially among the big three--Kirk, Spock, and McCoy. "All I ask is a tall ship and a star to steer her by . . . " The quintessential OS Star Trek episode?
