I am more of a Zelazny person, actually, but I read all of Heinlein. Poul Anderson, Samuel Delany, and more recently, William Gibson. And friend C. introdued me to Charles Stross and Steve Aylett.

I wish they hadn't made a movie out of Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep and then called it Bladerunner. I hope Alan Nourse got paid, at least.
Liked the film, though.
Have either of you read the Laumer "Bolo" stories?
Again with the double posting! I didn't click twice, I swear!

A funny thing about BladeRunner Joanna Cassidy who played T'Les recently reshot new scenes for a director's cut of the movie she even had the original costume that still fit her. The dvd is suposed to be released later this year or next year.
Re: Why and how
Good grief, no wonder she looked so familiar. I've only seen Bladerunner 10 times.

Re: Why and how
I think Spock's World mentioned mining colonies on T'Khut.

Re: Why and how
That was a great link Pookha. Its discussion of the correct spelling of Vulcan words is interesting, but nothing to get heated over. In any language there will be dialect and accent variations in the way things are pronounced. And then, with Vulcan being an alien world, of course translation into Human alphabets is going to be a problem. It is like with Ojibwe (Chippewa language) where there are two writing systems for the language using the English alphabet: phonetic system and double vowel system. I prefer the double vowel system but can read in either system. You are always going to have differences of opinion on spellings in any language. My take is that if I can understand that you are refering to the capital city of the planet Vulcan, I don't care what variation of spelling you use. The bottom line is the communication, the meaning.
Working on a major fan fic project. Two-thirds done. Hope to put it up in the not TOO distant future.

Re: Why and how
Then there is that disputed border planet near Andorian space that we saw in Cease Fire. The Vulcans called it Paan Mokar and the Andorian name was Weytahn.

I wonder if V'Las was starting to consider Earth a Vulcan colony, LOL.

I'm currently in pursuit of a semi-canon multiracial colony called Nisus.
