The recipes online for naan were coming out like disks. It seems some like their naan crispy, I like mine floppy. The recipes from the book have rarely failed me even though their naan from the basic dough recipe tastes like pizza. Not that I'm complaining about a pizza taste, it's just not what I want from naan.

Parchment paper! I have a roll but never think to use it. Would make life so much easier! Thanks!

No, I like soft floppy naan, like the restaurant kind. This isn't QUITE that good, but it's close. Better or at least cheaper than the naan you can buy in the supermarkets now (though that isn't bad).

I don't keep buttermilk around, so I just threw buttermilk powder into the warm water. But you can also add lemon juice to milk and wait ten minutes to get the same thing, I imagine.

Speaking of Puerto Rican food, my husband made tostones today. Mmmmmm!

When I maintained it, I used to use kefir in recipes that called for buttermilk. Was a cheap, useful alternative! Lost the culture though, oh well.

My daughter LOVES tostones. Because I have such a sweet tooth, I prefer amarillos. Mmm. Although I know I should look into the baked versions but I just can't bring myself to do it. It just seems wrong somehow.

I got stalled out on "Future Tense" (I wrote a terrible one!). Haven't had time to go back and start that one over (ironically...). I have a rough idea what I'll do with it, but I'm so behind on the house and garden -- I need to get everything planted, weeded, mulched, bleached/scraped/stained, and then get the house cleaned before the big 51st anniversary get-together (since my parents were too sick to make it up here for the 50th anniversary one). Once that's done, I'll get back to it.

Or, more likely, I'll do it the next time I really want to procrastinate any of the above. 8)

In the meantime you've got Rigil updating regularly, and plenty of other good stuff running.

Yeah ... no pressure there, huh? I wouldn't get too attached to my posting schedule (pronounced the British way 'cause its cool to say "shed-ule") since I'm bordering on full-blown panic in my job hunt and I'm sure we all know how employment seeking drains one's motivation.

But hey, if anyone knows of an low stress, high paying job here in OKC they could send me way, that'd be groovy.

Great. I'll go down in TnT history as the woman who pressured Rigil Kent into not updating anymore...

What field do you want to work in?

Are there any ad agencies in OKC? Or public relations agencies? Your writing skills are very strong -- you could try getting in the door as a freelancer or temp and ultimately end up doing some high paying work. Plus almost everyone at ad agencies is secretly longing to be a novelist or artist, so there'd be a lot of kindred spirits. There'd also be some vicious sneaky profit-seeking sharks, but that's par for the course in any biz setting.

I also recommend checking out all the local civil service exams. The state may not be hiring right now in this economy, but they will be eventually. As an officially disgruntled person you may not really be able to stand that kind of work, but it's dependable and a lot of it is even useful to the world.

That's simple. Write a novel and sell it for big bucks. Didn't you hear Nancy Pelosi? We're all supposed to quit our jobs and follow our passions. We don't need jobs... or food... or clothes... or roofs over our heads. We've got universal health care!

My motto is the day this stuff isn't fun anymore I bail, so no pressure gets to me. I'm sorry to hear about the job situation though. I wish I had some clue to help. Since you live no where near me I can't tell you to apply at the waterpark near by, they always need people, and my dad is a boss.

My Status. Going back to my place to pack for wensday will try to save work on disk and finish there.

I wouldn't count on the novel thing. I know plenty of people who've sold novels. They still need jobs.

As for the partisan political commentary, I believe this is a fanfiction site.

Yep. So was the "write a novel" thing. Sorry if that wasn't clear. We need a biting satire icon.

Biting, sarcastic partisan political commentary is still partisan political commentary and it is inappropriate here.

Sigh.

I was referring to a speech a few days ago by Ms. Pelosi in which I'm sure she meant to reassure us all that once the health care reform goes into effect we will no longer be forced to remain in jobs we hate just to have health insurance. Although I understood the message she was trying to convey, what actually came out of her mouth gave some conservatives the impression that she was advising us all to quit our day jobs to follow our dreams and let the government (and thus the taxpayers who choose to keep their day jobs) pay for our insurance. I found the juxtaposition of what she actually said (or what the conservatives thought she was saying) vs what I'm sure she meant to say to be amusing.... and quite pertinent to Rigil's complaints that he was looking for a job. I advised him to follow his dream... get it?

I apologize if you found it partisan. It was supposed to be funny, but I guess a joke's not funny if you have to explain it.

Back to our usual programming.

Besides, got the book idea. Just can't figure out the ending.

On topic, I'm currently working on chapter 58 of DivPath. Huzzah.
