1) That would be so great to have as a single woman.
2) Oh, man, it's ugly and would clutter up my counter.

Someone approached me on Yahoo Messenger this morning, asking if I wrote fanfiction. I asked how they found me, and they said through one of the Trek Yahoo groups I belong to. So I said yean, and they asked me if I'd write a fic for them. I asked why they didn't want to write it themselves, and they said they're not a writer, so I asked what kind of fic they wanted. Turns out it was a real-person fic, involving an actress. Now, I don't like to get all freaked out and judgmental about what other people read and write, even when it isn't my kind of thing, but this is one area, to me, that crosses a line; celebrities have enough problems with crazed fans, and our fandom in particular draws a lot of people who have a hard time separating fantasy from reality. Not to mention, that kind of thing can get you sued faster than your regular not-for-profit fanfic, because celebs can use slander and libel laws against you, and then there's the whole stalker-y angle...
So I declined.
And the person--who, apparently, forgot he was asking me for a FAVOR--called me a jerk, and cussed me out when I told him there was no reason to get nasty about it.
You know...like I said, I hate it when people get judgmental about what other people read and write...but at the same time, if you're asking for a favor that's kind of out there, or you haven't done your homework, to find out what kind of writing someone does before you ask them for this kind of favor, one would think you'd have to be prepared to face a little bit of rejection, right??? And what's with the sense of entitlement?
Any way...I was just going to report the incident to the Yahoo group's listmoms and go on with my day, but when he messaged me back just to cuss me out, I clicked the "report spam" button on the messenger window. I haven't heard back form the listmom yet, but I'm assuming the person will be either warned or removed from the group.
