Off to Disney World!!! Be back next week.
Re: The Happy News thread
Have fun Aikiweezie!
And glad to hear things are progressing, Aquarius. I think you've made some good choices, despite the turmoil. I hope you find a gig in your hometown. As someone who does a long commute by choice for lifestyle reasons - it is healthy to keep it at a minimum.

I hear rain is predicted this weekend due to that tropical depression/storm/whatever. At least it will be a few degrees cooler. I wouldn't want to do Disney in July, myself. The heat index can get above 100 degrees in south Florida this time of year. Make sure you stay well hydrated, and have a great time.

Re: The Happy News thread
First time I did Disney World was in July... The lines, the endless lines... I guess I didn't mind the heat all that much, but I was 10 and I was in Disney, so I couldn't have cared less about the weather.
Have a nice time, Aikiweezie!

Re: The Happy News thread
I love my brother's family, but so I'm happy to have the house back to ourselves. When they visit, they really like to stay for awhile. Plus this time, my brother parked himself at the computer with my teenage son to play Age of Empires and Sims, and never mind the rest of us, including his own two children.
Other happy news -- with the aid of goggles and nose clip, my son is finally really swimming in his swim class, instead of standing around trying to avoid the instructor's notice, dipping his head in the water when he really has to, and coughing in horror as he cleans his face afterwards. Hoorah. Of course, one doesn't tend to have goggles and nose clip when one's boat overturns in the middle of a body of water, but it's a start.

My happy news... I've got a new baby niece. She was born yesterday but there was some complications, so far as I know everything is OK for now, I'll see her tomorrow.
Some of these people haven't taken their medication. Let's see what happens now...

Well yes. I continue to write. And on Fanfiction.Net, for those who want, it is possible to cast a glance at my latest efforts. We arrived to
The Ears of the Elves, chapter Forty-four
And here is the beginning of the whole story.

But, I must say, you could also find something else on Fanfiction.net written by me. If you want.

That's really happy news! Congratulations (including the parents)! Hope she will be dismissed from nursery care as expected.
Now, tell us something, does she has really Vulcan ears?

Re: The Happy News thread
Two pieces of good news... well more like 4! And then 1 piece of sorta bad news but not for me for my friend at the gym.
Good news!
1. I did 28 pullups today (that's up from 24, and 8 more than the Marine Corps PFT max). that's in one set btw, not like as many as I can do in one day. I did 234 in about an hour (along with 234 pushups and crunches) for 4th of july...
2. I found an apartment in Urbana that's just AWESOME. For those who I haven't told (cuz it's going so freakin breakneck fast), I got into university of illinois - urbana/champaign for a masters in aerospace engineering for this fall. Right now i'm non-thesis but i'm planning on getting that changed if/when i can find a faculty member to sponsor me for research. Had no luck so far (I'm a new student and no aero undergrad degree makes it challenging), but I have a promising possibility in nuclear propulsion later this week. Seriously, it's like my dream research... but knock on wood...
3. I have my schedule for the semester:
Orbital Mechanics
Strength of Materials
Aerospace Propulsion
Viscous Flow and Heat Transfer
Advanced Gas Dynamics
4. I found my oldest sister's facebook page (she added me) on sort of a random whim I guess... but te really good news.. sad bit, she doesn't raise any of her 4 daughters. My dad has custody of her 2 youngest (it's for the best) but different ex husband/boyfriends have the other 2. I hadn't seen or heard from them in YEARS. Come to discover her oldest, Madison, is 14 and is BEAUTIFUL. I can't BELIEVE she's 14, it's amazing. Her other, Alisia, is 10, and I got to see some pictures of both of them on her FB. Very cool cuz we hadn't heard what happened to those girls since they were like infants.
Ok the b ad news.
I was at the gym tonight and my buddy dropped 335 lbs on his FACE. Yeah not even kidding. He was doing decline bench with a free bar. I wasn't his spotter, this other dude was. The friend of mine was wearing new gloves he hadn't used in awhile and the bar just rolled out of his grasp. he said he'd done the weight before, he wasn't worried about it, and I believed him cuz the dude definitely knows his way around a gym. I was on the side but you can't really side-spot unless u have 2 guys and there weren't. If u hold the bar on one side it'll just tip and w/ 335 lbs that's a BAD idea. So I wasn't really watching cuz i wasn't his spotter, i look down n see the bar is like flat against his FACE and I'm like OH MY GOD. LIke "squashed skull" went through my brain. It seriously occurred to me at one point he might die, cuz i mean this was a LOT of weight, and totally free. So we pull it off when we realized what was happening and he was bleeding from the corner of his eye socket. Looks like he could use 3 or 4 stitches but the cut is REALLY close to his eye so idk if they can even stitch it. He said he felt fine after cleaning it up but he bled EVERYWHERE. He left right then and his wife took him home so he should be ok but... wow that was wild... highlighted the importance of bein really diligent when you spot.

Oh I left out the part about how I turned down two separate intimate encounter offers tonight to hang out with my neighbor crush and her kids only to discover she wasn't available cuz she took em to the fair and had to put em down for bed
