Re: New members, introduce yourselves here!
As a former cell phone salesperson.... well, I mostly agree with you, though there are definate uses for them. Like when you lock your keys in the car, can look up local locksmiths from your phone, then call them, and email various people to let them know you'll be late (raises hand guilitily). Most states have laws against texting, and, if you're under 18, you usually can't drive and talk without a bluetooth.
Now bluethooths, those are cool. You get the symbol for them from putting two nordic runes, and their name comes from, if I remember correctly, one of the first kings of the danes, who loved blueberries. There was a dummy one at work I would wear when I forgot mine (so I wouldn't get called out for forgetting mine, 'cause AT&T is one of those places where forgetting your cell/bluetooth/etc is against the rules) that looked almost exactly like the one Scotty wears during the "3 people from 2 locations onto 1 pad" transport scene at the end of the nuTrek movie.... They'd stopped making that version before I even began to work at AT&T, but I always picked that one 'cause it looked like something from Trek...

Re: New members, introduce yourselves here!
Hello everyone!
Had a couple of busy days; I'm painting my son's bedroom. He's 3 years old and absolutely crazy about Winnie the Pooh and Peter Pan; more specifically about Tigger, Tinkerbell and the crocodile... and yes, you've guessed, he wanted his room to have some elements of his favourite characters...
Now, I discovered there existed these stamps and such you could paint on the wall, however the booklet I discovered them in was apparently a tad out of date. None of the paint stores anywhere near had the material I was searching for. Apparently wall-parer is back in fashion more; too bad for the little one because mommy can paint but is quite hopeless when it comes to sticking wall-paper to the wall... Luckily Fate seems to have pitied him, since a few days ago we went to a local flee market and I found some nice wall-stickers and such from Winnie the Pooh and Tigger. No Peter Pan though, but the little one was more than happy enough and is now continuously changing opinion on where he'll want them when mommy will be finished painting his walls and ceiling.
So cute...
As for children's stories, I loved them and still do. At least, they make me smile when I read each night to my son. Though, I don't think most of them would be known here as they're not part of the English literature, so I won't bother mentioning them. Except one, for Panyasan; I'm sure you remember 'Jip & Janneke'? I'm reading these now to my kid and he loves them!
As for those stories that are English, when I was little I loved Peter Pan and Alice in Wonderland, though I only read the original versions when I was 13 or 14. And then there were of course 'The Chronicles of Narnia', they were an absolute favourite of mine! I read the translations the first time when I was 7 and kept rereading them. Once I had enough of a handle on my English I coundn't wait to get my hands on the original versions. Imagine how thrilled I was when I learned there was going to be a movie...
@Grrr: About Dark Angel, no I'm not a Max/Logan shipper. I don't really do shipping. However, since I wasn't all that fond of Logan as a character I do tend to prefer fanfics that have either a Max/Zack or Max/Alec pairing.
@Misplaced: About the Avatar, I'd really, really appreciate any help you could give me. Data's my absolute favourite character, but if I have to stay in keep with my own gender I'd like something with Worf's mate, K'eylar (not sure about the correct spelling here). I always liked her whenever she appeared in an episode.

Your son is my kind of kid. Great choice for an avatar. K'Ehleyr, rocks! Susie Plaxton the actress who played her played other great trek women rocks.
Some of these people haven't taken their medication. Let's see what happens now...

You don't have to stick to your own gender.

Officially retired from writing Trek fanfiction.
Re: New members, introduce yourselves here!
Thank you misplaced!
K'Ehleyr appears in the episodes 'The Emissary' (season 2) and in 'Reunion' (season 4).
As for Data, I prefer the yellow uniform over the newer blue vest things from the latest movies.

Re: New members, introduce yourselves here!
*tsk* The later season uniforms are my favourite. they look far more military (and practical) then some of the others. the early season TNGs... those uniforms were the worst.
Re: New members, introduce yourselves here!
Ah, that's exactly why I don't like the latest version of the uniforms, because they seem too militaristic. But I do agree that the uniforms of season 1 were the worst of the TNG bunch.
However anything from the 2nd to the last season is perfectly adequate as far as uniforms go.
Yet, the absolute worst uniforms ever are those of the original series; no offence for anyone who likes the original series, but really, didn't they feel utterly ridiculous in those things that were supposed to pass for a uniform?

Re: New members, introduce yourselves here!
So I kinda resigned my lurker status over on R&S, but...
I'm Jay. A huge ENT fan, loather of the abomination, drinker of T&T fanfic, RN Officer, Playwrite (Produced) and aspiring fanfic author.
I have been rightly informed that now I'm out of the shadows I should start leaving comments - which I shall do from now on.
But I have to say, I love the way you good folks have expanded the bond between T&T and adore the MU fictions (from 2 episodes I didn't much care for, as they smelt of writers that had given up any hope of keeping ENT going).
Oh yeah... and the filth on this site is stunning! It's enough to make a sailor blush!

Hey, JaysPlays, we have matching avatars, kind of . . . Wow! A published playwright. We have a few English professors, including Alelou, who once sold a story idea to Star Trek Voyager! I suspect we have some other professional writers here . . . You are VERY welcome to come out of hiding and join us officially.
I'm donating my body to science fiction.

Alelou, I didn't know you sold an idea to the PTB. Which one? And did they make it into an episode? Details, please.

Mine's the one I served on. Yours?
Many thanks for the welcomes - but I have to admit shame... I may be a 'produced playwrite' (5 productions and 1,200 ticket sales - Hoorah!) but not a 'professional playwrite'. I am yet to have the 'professional production' the Writers Guild insist upon.
But I'm already feeling the muse pearing over the shoulder plotting out my Mal short. Who knows, there may be a new direction out there for me!

It was "Revulsion," which didn't come out as I had hoped. I actually enjoyed the subplot about Tom and B'Elanna much better and I had nothing to do with it. My idea was that a holo-captain on an alien ship had been "on" alone for so long that he had gone mad, and attacked any ship he came across, including Voyager, and that only the holo-doctor would be able to deal with him effectively (while freaking out a bit about how he could end up the same way). But I really didn't care for the paranoid-about-germs theme that the episode's actual writer introduced. Jeri Taylor told me this was because they couldn't afford the special effects for the shoot-em-out battle I'd proposed -- in general TNG and Voyager always had to save up their space battles for special occasions.
