Oh like NASCAR! Kidding! Kidding! But NASCAR is no joke where I'm from. Well unless you're me and a born Yankee anyway.

Happy news from a strange country called Ger-Ma-Ny. I finished my 12th airborne hour today, that's 25% into the minimum requirement for my pilot license. I was flying an Antonov AN-2. If you read the article, you'll read some outrageous claims that the thing flies at 30 mph. Tell you what; It's true
We were 'flying' at 70 knots indicated airspeed, but ground speed was -5 kn
meaning, we had about 36 or so head wind, which was more than we were flying. We had to go for the dangerous option of landing with a tailwind, beacuse with the headwind we were climbing even with the engine at idle

Just think. You were flying backwards without even trying! How cool is that?

LOL, actually the AN-2 is the safest plane in the world, because it cannot really stall. The handbook says, that if the engine packs in, which it does occasionally (it's a ukrainian design from the 40's, ok

I'm donating my body to science fiction.

WE DID IT!!! Just came back from visiting the Race of Nations in Düsseldorf. Germany - represented by Michael Schumacher and Sebastian Vettel - beat England (Andy Priaulx and Jason Plato) by score 2-1

Re: The Happy News thread
Kotik, with your flying experience, I think you should write a story about propeller airplane flying on Vulcan. How would the thinner atmosphere and heavier gravity effect the design of gasoline powered propeller airplanes? Would they even have them at some point in their history of flight on Vulcan? How would the flying techniques be different? Should I make this a story challenge to you?

Working on a major fan fic project. Two-thirds done. Hope to put it up in the not TOO distant future.

OK for the subject of flying an 'airplane' in Vulcan... but I expect they are too environment attached to allow a gasoline propelled airplane in their atmosphere...
