To me electricity is no laughing matter because I work with it every day.

Yeah, 25,000 volts DC up your arm is no fun.

With 25000 volts I would ask what arm. I deal with voltages within 1000 V AC. I have been shocked couple of times when I have been working. The first time I got zapped while working was because a stupid project manager who was showing the apartment to the owners switched on the circuit brakers while we were installing lighting in the bathroom. Mad

That kind of thing makes you want to handcuff the project manager to the nearest transformer and just stand there, throwing the breaker on and off repeatedly while you watch him smoke, doesn't it? Very Happy

You are obviously working with house current. Sometimes you can get hit with low amperage, high voltage stuff that really makes your day. I was adjusting the horizontal output on an old tube type floor model television once and, like an idiot, I leaned across the top of it to see the screen while I made the final adjustments. I took 32,000 volts of DC current right in the belly button. Fortunately the amperage was almost non-existent or I would not be here to confess my idiocy. But it's amazing how many really stupid mistakes a person can accumulate if you survive long enough.

What makes your regular house current dangerous is the fact it starts to induce muscle cramps in around 0.3A. 1A is considered lethal. Also the current travels through the body while high voltage high frequency current travels on the surface of the body and can incinerate a person if the contact is long enough.(my memory might be a little fuzzy about the high voltage stuff because that is not my specialty and therefore wasn't taught in dept in school)

Same sort of thing as BnB, except mine was from the ultra-high tension line that drives the CRT. Makes your eyes light up real good. Thankfully, next-to-no current, so no death unless you have a heart condidition. Mind you, those transformers in microwave ovens, they'll put you in a pine box no problem.

I had a shocking experiance while changing the bulbs in a florescent light in one of the service corridors in the mall. See, I wasn't aware that any current ran through the fixtures themselves, as in in the lip along the bottom of the fixture, until I just barely touched it with my pinky finger as I was taking out one of bulbs. I had pain down to my elbow for about a week after that, but I guess I learned a valuable lesson about changing florescent tubes - don't touch any metal.

That dont sound right, CX. None of the framework should be live, so it either had a bad or nonexistant ground, or summat else was leaking.

T'Poptarts, sweetie... I know we're your therapy and all, and it's good to get it out and not stuff it... but sometimes your posts worry me. You need somebody local to talk to big time. How about your sister who sent you the new shoes? Maybe she'd understand and you could share your misery. All this anger's gonna eat you right up and spit you out.

My sister's not local. And I rarely even talk to her or like anyone in my family anyway. Well but you already know I don't have anyone. Crying or Very sad

And like last night I actually tried to get some sleep for at least the whatever couple hours I had or something and of course I couldn't. Sad So I'm tired Crying or Very sad
