Re: New members, introduce yourselves here!
Ha! Ha! Starwatcher, I should introduce you to my friend Ed. On our road trip back from the Texas Star Party, we had a very lopsided conversation about the development of ship amour and missles during World War II, which consisted of him reciting the whole history of the development ship armor and missles and me going, "Wow . . . Huh . . . really? . . . cool . . . Uh-huh . . ." while thinking, how the heck can he remember these random details?
I'm donating my body to science fiction.

So PennJazz. I sometimes go to meetings of the Mongahala Historical Society. They are often about World War II, with a local tie-in.

Re: New members, introduce yourselves here!
Oh, self introductions. I think this is the part of being social I really don't like
Screen name: Putaro
Real name, gender, location, profession (only if you want to):
Dave, Male, Tokyo (from San Francisco originally), Software Engineer
Are you here as a reader, writer, or both?
I'm new to fan fiction, just started reading it a few months ago. I've been reading a lot so I decided to try my hand at writing as well. Couldn't start with a short story, I jumped right into an epic. http://www.fanfiction.net/s/6809553/1/Five_Year_Mission_Part_1_Setting_the_Course
How did you first become a fan of Star Trek?
I was hooked the first time I saw a TOS episode when I was in elementary school (like back in the early 70's). I didn't like TNG very much, didn't have time to keep up with Voyager or DS9 when they were on the air. I've been out of the US since 2000 so I missed Enterprise when it was on the air. I started watching the episodes earlier this year so it's all pretty fresh for me.
Are you interested in any other fandoms?
You won't catch me at any cons, but I like most science fiction. I really enjoyed the new Battlestar Galactica and I've been keeping up with Fringe.
What's your favorite Enterprise fanfic?
There's so much good stuff, it's hard to say. As I said, I'm new to fan fiction so I was really impressed and surprised by the quality of the writing.
What was the last book you read?

Welcome Putaro. God you are brave jumping it to writing starting with an Epic.
I almost S..t my pants trying my first story. Like many I have always wanted to write but never realized how damned hard it is. so I salute anyone who can start out with an Epic. But what do you have for an encore? Epic is top of the writing line.
You probably have already found the old Trip and T'Pol fanfic site from the late lamented HOT. Lots of great stories and writers there.

Welcome, Putaro.
I take my hat off to you gifted writers who have the imagination to jump right into an epic story. I wish I could do that but at the moment 'drabbles' seem to be about my limit. Still, taking small steps, perhaps I'll get there one day! Look forward to the next instalment of the five year mission.

You guys really should read Putaro's story. It's unique and very good. Maybe if enough of us comment he'll get TnT together as they should be.

Re: New members, introduce yourselves here!
He's certainly welcome to submit it here as soon as it's finished, but in the meantime if you look upthread at his introduction he's posted a link. It's a terrific general ensemble piece with significant TnT potential. So far it looks more appropriate for Main Engineering, but he still has time to get to the mushy stuff.

Re: New members, introduce yourselves here!
Hi everyone, thanks for the warm welcome!
Mushy stuff is coming but there's a bunch of plot in the way.
What to do after an epic? Well, I figure I'll drive off that bridge when I come to it. I have enough plot to keep me busy for quite a while.
