Being a child of the '50's and so raised with a different value structure than many of todays generation my opinions are well formed and unlikely easily changed by popular rhetoric or emotionalism.

Given this I would rather not see such emotionaly volitile issues here. The result is quite predictible and neither side persuades the other of thier wisdom.

Are you saying there's no place for a "Gun Control" thread on this board? Personally, i really enjoy the broad-spectrum of topics AND view-points on here... Then again, I'm a child of the 80's, so...

Do you really want the hard edge confrontation and ill will that accompanies such volitile topics to change the demeanor of the forum?

The thing is, in the US we have such an acrimonious history revolving around the gun control debate, in fact the entire history of the second amendment to the constitution, that is is nearly impossible to avoid pissing somebody off eventually.

It is a national tradition.

Everyone has pretty much said their piece and we have devolved a little too much here and there, below our better natures. Take care to remain within the lines, because for the good of the board and the interest of all involved, we're going to be paying closer attention to disharmonious exchanges in order to do our best to keep things civil Smile
