Although he's not the subject of this video, "some guy" was also my father until he got toward the end of his life and had to switch back to ground-based full time. Just for the record, you don't get to do this your very first day on the job. There's a lot of practice, safety always first, etc., and the accident rate isn't anywhere near as high as you might think. Of course, there's no such thing as a minor accident, but it's actually fairly interesting work. Needless to say it also pays rather well.
...and as a supervisor, OSHA regulations aside, if he heard anyone even joke about free climbing at 1600' he'd start busting heads. Most folks don't do (or, at least, admit to) that and that part of the video is a bit misleading.

The Daicon IV opening animation - a sci-fi convention in 1983 Osaka. The opening was hand-drawn animation done by fans, who eventually would go on to found animation studio Gainax.
