Re: The Short SHORT version
Probably not spicy enough (I keep forgetting this new jar of pepper stuff has garlic in it, which waters down the heat). I don't know for sure what I did that made this less interesting. Maybe it's a pork thing. Usually I do it with beef.
And yes, it's Unexpected. Your turn!

Re: The Short SHORT version
I'd probably like it better, then. Only with shrimp, since it's a Friday in Lent. I do like garlic much better than pepper. Should have been born in Italy instead of in Cajun country.

Re: The Short SHORT version
Where we are, fish is much more expensive than pork loin I got for $1.99 a pound (and must cook or freeze today before it goes bad), so I would consider it as close to the spirit of Lent as I can get without resorting to lentils or beans.
Not that anyone would accuse me of being observant in recent years.
JustTripn actually introduced me to sambal oolek (sp? Jarred ground up Thai hot peppers in vinegar) and I put it in more and more stuff. It used to scare the hell out of me, but it's pretty much a staple of our kitchen now. I find myself throwing it into all sorts of dishes.
I know which episode that was, but I think I'll give someone else a shot.

Hellooooo?
Okay, maybe this thing is dying a natural death. I'll do one more round -- Diggers mark it as "Terra Nova," yes? Nice job capturing the voice there.

Thanks.
You're right about Terra Nova, of course.
Looks like we're the only two left who want to play. I'm still game if you are. Maybe if we keep at it the others will come back.

And here I thought it was "Extinction," though once Alelou pegged it, I knew she was right.
I'm still interested, but I've been trying to sit it out off and on for the same reason -- it seems like the same people are playing over and over. Any ideas?

My fan fiction is in The Laundry Room.

Re: The Short SHORT version
Unfortunately, this is what usually happens with threads like this in my experience. The people that really enjoy doing whatever the thread is about are always the last ones standing. Everyone else loses interest pretty quickly once the novelty wears off.
This one's actually lasting a lot longer than I expected, I guess because the haiku format is easy and quick. At HoT several years ago Bether and I kept a poetry thread going for over a year with basically just the two of us. We'd get comments and guest participants from time to time, but mainly it was just us, doing our uber-geeky Star Trek poetry thing. La-de-da-de-da.....

Re: The Short SHORT version
I found that writing a haiku in English was much harder than I thought, because I had to figure out how syllables in English work. Now in Japanese it's easy to count the syllables!
But I am willing to give it another try if I can figure out what the next haiku is all about....

Love is a verb.

Re: The Short SHORT version
It must be very hard with a language that's as inconsistently spelled and pronounced as English.
It’s all out of whack:
Four minutes, herbivores, and
More space than makes sense.
Have at it!

Fascinating.

I thought I had it, but 'herbivores' has got me flumoxed at the moment.

Patience, patience. Lots of different time zones and schedules involved too!
Since I can't figure out a syllable to save my life, I found this handy: http://www.syllablecount.com/

Re: The Short SHORT version
Let's say herbivores is only plural because of repetition. Does that help?

Re: The Short SHORT version
Technically speaking, there is a herbivore in every episode!

Re: The Short SHORT version
Technically, a herbivore is an animal that is obligated to get its nutrition only from plant matter. An animal that is capable of eating meat and deriving nutrition from it but chooses not to is a vegetarian, not a herbivore.
