That's great. Sounds like the Mets could definitely use him...

(Of course, they could use just about anyone right now.)

Cubbbies, Alelou, not the Mets.

Great first outing Weebie. You are justly proud of him. hope he is kept on even if it is only in the bull Pen and used as a relivier for a while until he is good enough to be a starter.

Kotik,

My nephew is a baseball pitcher, the guy who stands on the dirt in the middle of the infield and tries to throw it past the guy with the club. In American baseball there are multiple leagues with the majors being the top level. Most minor league teams are administered and supplied with players by their major league team.
Players work their way up through the minor league levels (there are five levels in the minors) hoping for a chance at the major leagues. Last night the nephew got his first ever start after being "called up" to the majors. his team is the Chicago Cubs. the numbers I posted are his statistics for the game. If you don't understand baseball they won't mean anything to you. In simple terms he played very well.

its also very lucrative. The major league minimum salary is $480,000 per season. The kid will get it prorated per day roughly he ends up with better than $2,500 a day for every day he's on the major league roster. Beats the hell out of his $2,100 a month minor league pay....
RIP Tom, I will miss you, as will many others

Wow, I had no idea it was so lucrative. I hope your nephew appreciates how much you support him. And that you could do with a new PC, and perhaps a boat. Did I say 'boat'? Obviously I meant 'yacht'.

Holy confusion batman  How's that for a crazy day. I was still fuming over the idiocy that some shady company exposed me to, so I went out to a nearby beer garden, got me self a few blond ones and went back home, only to find my masil inbox stuffed to the gills  And here comes - they were all from ff.net. I got 18 reviews today from a single reader :happyjump: Someone spent 6 hours reading my story and reviewing every single chapter. Ok, half of them are one-liners, but hey, I wnet from 40 in two years to 58 in a single day

Hope he continues to prosper, except when playing against Mets...

(Not that I honestly care about the latter point, but my household would be generally happier that way.)

Edit: Oh dear. Just saw the stats.

My son started playing baseball with his elementary school team. I went to see the first game he got to play in. They lost 42-12 (that's kind of an amazingly high score in baseball). My son was playing left field, a pop fly came to him, he got under it, he caught it...and then dropped it out of his baseball mitt. Good fun!

Back to being happy,

The raspberry sign was up at the local picking field today. Happy wifey. She loves them in smoothies. We picked 12 quarts, they are all washed and in the freezer!!

Yum. I actually have a few threatening to ripen on the plants I just put in this year.

Unfortunately, they are in small enough numbers that I will have to be very wily to get any before the squirrels do.

Sign? Picking field? Why don't you just go in the woods and pick them things? I collect them every year by the pounds or don't they grow in the woods in Americaland ? :o

Silly Kotik,

Of course they grow in the woods. It is a whole lot easier to go to a local farmer who grows "U-Pick" raspberries though. Saves time an the farmer gets a buck or two. Besides this year was so dry even my few bushes only produced a few. The blackberries were few and far between as well....

Used to go picking Blackberries and Huckleberries in the woods. woman whose boarding house I was living in canned them as jellies. Great on toast.
