I'd probably choose the Great Lakes region over Florida too. I don't much care for heat and humidity anymore -- I get excema if I'm in the sun for too long -- and when Florida is cold, which it sure can be, it's really bone-chillingly cold --because the buildings aren't insulated well and nobody wears gloves or hats. If it ain't having a drought, it's having tornadoes and hurricanes and fires, all the nuts and conmen and miscellaneous criminals like to roll down there for the winter, many of the South American mobsters do their banking and money laundering there, and if you want to enjoy regular booms and busts fueled by fraud and speculation, it's sure to be at the leading edge of any economic chicanery. Not to mention that ever since they passed term limits, the state government has belonged to the lobbyists because they're the only ones who know how to write legislation. And if global warming heats up half of it will be underwater.
But hey, other than that, it's a great place. LOL. I do love it, honestly, but I can see how it's an aquired taste.
And Jeezum crow, WarpGirl, you certainly had vacations from hell there. One of these days you need to pick a nice spot not in the middle of winter (spring or fall are best) and go without your family and have a good time.
