She raises two objections and Archer rejects the two. T'Pol doesn't argue any further, which I think is very Vulcan. She has said what she thought, he doesn't listen, that's it. Going on with the argument is pointless. Later on is obvious she doesn't have much interaction with Sim, that's what he points out when he's a teen. Again, understable, why would she have any relationship with a stranger? Is insulting to Sim, since she would only be friendly with him because he was exactly like Trip.
And apparently Trip is irreplaceable, which is a little insulting for the rest of the Engineering staff.
