Well, thank you for the sweet, low-calorie thoughts! I'm thankful for this gang, too.

We're having such an informal Thanksgiving this year that we decided to have ham instead of turkey, because we prefer ham and it's easier. I think the turkeys may have heard about this, because one just flew around our house about an hour ago. My kid was excited, but I told him maybe he should put on a red jacket before he went any further into the woods.

Funny story from this year's Thanksgiving. We had Thanksgiving at my husband's grandma's house. Wonderful woman, but if you mention the Internet, you set her off on this two minute lecture about the End of Times, which we all know by heart. So of course someone has to mention the Internet and set her off. This time, she begins with "My Face! Your Face! Spacebook! Google-ooo! I don't know what you call it! But I don't mess with none of it! No honey, the bible is fullfilling . . . . . " Of course this set everyone off laughing so hard they couldn't breathe, while trying not to laugh at all.

Well today she calls and we're talking about Christmas etc. and she says, "I was telling my sister today how I got them boys laughing pretending I didn't know the word for Facebook. Did you see them? They were cracking up. Oh I enjoy those boys so much."

LOL . . .

So, a friend of mine and I were ooooohing and aaaaahing over pictures of the First Lady's dress at the state dinner. Her four year old looked at the picture and said:

"Barack o' Mama!"

Whatever your political persuasion, that's funny.

I got a chuckle out of the minutes of our last department meeting, in which Obama (who had been at the college this semester) somehow turned into O'Bama. Maybe they think he's an Irish African American...

The horrible speller that I am, I kept spelling his name that way when he first ran. I would be IMing. Anyway, he looks Irish to me, lol . . .

Funny story, in fourth grade my twins, who are half black and half white, had a school assignment were they had write a poem about their ethnic background. There was a template, and it was about a black ethnicity: Something like, "I am Rosa Parks, sitting at the front of the bus. I am Jackie Robinson hitting a ball out of the ballpark" That was the template.

Well, I knew nothing about this, so at the end of the year the twins bring home their separate poems with their pictures stapled on them. Well, I had one, "I am Rosa Parks, I am Jackie Robinson" poem and one "I am the little boy kissing the Blarney stone" poem, lol . . . And it ended proudly, "My mother's great-grandfather was a real Irishman who came over from Ireland to make a new life" or something, something I didn't even know he knew, lol . . . I said, "Chris, how did know know all this stuff about Ireland?" He says, when we told the teachers our ethnicity, they divided us up into groups, so I was working with T. Fitzgerald (who was a little red-headed boy). And Chris at the time had this gigantic afro. I really give the school credit, because apparently noone batted an eye when he announced he was Irish or ever questioned it.

That's such a sweet story about your twins.

And Barack Obama is part Irish:

You know what O'Bama's mistake was? He wasn't born an Irishman!

Yes, cute story, JT. Sigh, it must have been so much fun raising twins...and also double trouble, right? One child was enough for me but she has four and then 'adopted' one that she has guardianship of. Oh, Image is back living at home so all five kids and two parents are in a three bedroom apartment. They love to come to Grandma's where they have a house and yard to spread out and run around in. Shopping with them is a trip and a half.

Kids are sometimes the only things that give me any type of joy in life. I cannot wait for my new little nephew to be born.
